Tottenham started the game better but Liverpool took control and Bobby Firmino scored with a great header. Spurs have offered very little going forward and Liverpool deserve to be in front.
Liverpool have not lost a Premier League match after scoring the opening goal since 23 April 2017, when they were beaten 2-1 by Palace at Anfield after Philippe Coutinho netted the opener.
The Reds have not lost a league fixture versus another established top-six team after scoring the opening goal since a 2-1 home defeat against Chelsea on 8 November 2014 after Emre Can netted the opener.

Liverpool lead and are back on top of the table as it stands.
Cardiff 1-2 Chelsea

More from Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "In the end we were lucky but we deserved to win. I don't know if it was offside. Neil [Warnock] told me it was offside. He was sure. I don't know because our technical area was a little bit far from the box but he was sure."
On starting with Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante on the bench: "Kante has played 50 matches and Hazard 47. In the last week they played two games for their national teams for 180 minutes so I thought it was time to rest them.
"We were lucky because we gained three points and Hazard played 30 or 35 minutes and Kante zero minutes.
"I am really happy for the three points. To lose today would have been really, really hard for us. We are fighting. We have opportunities so I am really very happy."

Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Still just the one shot on target all game.
Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Poor from Jordan Henderson, coughing up possession in midfield and Danny Rose drives on. Christian Eriksen tries to flick a pass over the top but it's well mopped up by the Liverpool defence.
Is Rose England's first choice left-back again?

Andrew Robertson is in there and if Sadio Mane can reverse the pass the full-back had a clear shot at goal.
Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Close! That really is close as man of the moment Sadio Mane looks to bend one into the far corner, about two yards wide. Lovely strike!
Clueless since Thursday?

Yullaw: Why is Son not playing?!!! Pochettino has gone clueless since Real appointed Zidane & MUFC appointed Solskjaer
Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Spurs having a good spell again now but that's poor from Harry Kane, he finds space wide on the right but his cross is overhit. Too much on it for the arriving Lucas Moura. Alisson hasn't had to make a save yet.

Good play by Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. It sat up nicely for the England international but I think Alisson had it covered.
Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Strike! Dele Alli has been a good notch or two below his best of late if you ask me but that's a fine strike, smashed on the bounce from about 25 yards, cut across the ball and sends it a yard or two too high. Harry Kane then gets away from Virgil van Dijk but as he shoots the big Dutchman extends a leg to make a challenge.
Good game this!
Portsmouth 2-2 Sunderland
What a great cup final!
Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Roberto Firmino almost wriggles free inside the area and his cutback is well cut out. The game is on a knife edge at the moment.
Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Spurs kick back into life, Danny Rose puts over a superb, superb cross which is crying out to be put away but a stretching Dele Alli can't get there.
Liverpool fans won't be happy if Cardiff do put out the reserves...
Cardiff 1-2 Chelsea

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock, speaking to BBC Sport: "I am deflated because we have worked hard for this game and felt we could win it. When you don't win and it is nothing to do with ourselves it is a kick in the teeth. Against the big teams you have to have VAR because you don't get the big decisions. The equalising goal is the winning goal really, and if you can't see across the line and see offside I don't know why we are in the game. I look at the two penalties we should have had and the red card against Kenneth Zohore.
"The biggest and best league in the world but probably the worst officials at the minute. What can I say about my lads? They were brilliant and it made for a great game. It kicks you in the teeth. We've had enough of them this year."
On approaching the officials on the pitch at full-time: "At that stage people might be happy to see you say something and get fined but what can you say? I wanted to get my lads away because I didn't want to get anyone punished., Burnley and Southampton fans will be rubbing their hands in glee. It hurts. The referee had a decent game but we didn't get the major decisions. The linesman, though... it is so disappointing. Chelsea know they have got away with murder today.
"We keep getting knock-backs, I will probably play the U23s on Wednesday against Manchester City and try to keep it down to 10 or 11. It doesn't matter who you play at the minute, it is who has a flag in his hand and who has a whistle."
