Spurs started well but Liverpool are in command since the goal. Manager Jurgen Klopp is urging on both his players and The Kop from his position in the technical area.

One downside - a very edgy start from goalkeeper Alisson.

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Andy Robertson has nine assists for Liverpool in the Premier League this season; of defenders, only Andy Hinchliffe (1994-95) and Leighton Baines (2010-11) have had more in a single campaign (both 11).

The left-back union chalk one up. Alisson is then a bit lucky, coming out to try and head the ball away right on the edge of the area and he almost gets in a right tangle with James Milner.

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, speaking to Sky Sports, on Blues fans calling for his sacking: "They were probably unhappy for the result. I can understand, I can understand very well. I am getting used to this."

On his side's lacklustre performance: "After the Everton match, we were a little bit nervous. We didn’t play well in the first half and we conceded a stupid goal.

"In the end we deserved to win. I don’t know if the goal was offside, I have to see the situation and the action, I don’t know. Maybe. Sometimes we can be lucky."

This Spurs back three/five is not working, Liverpool have so much space out wide. They play Mo Salah into a dangerous channel but Davinson Sanchez stretches to clear well.

Here's the table as it stands - the Reds are back on top but look at that race for third and fourth!

Liverpool have really come to the party now, brilliant football from Andrew Robertson, into Mo Salah, backheeled to Gini Wijnaldum, on to Sadio Mane who curls over the top.

The league leaders are playing like it at the moment.

  7. CLOSE!published at 19 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Almost two! Another Andrew Robertson cross is headed out but only as far as opposite full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who leans in and hits a brilliant dipping strike wide from the edge of the area. Spurs looking shaky at the back all of a sudden.

What a cross! Liverpool have been second best in the opening exchanges but Andrew Robertson finds a load of space on the left and delivers a dream ball, asking for conversion, and Roberto Firmino gets between the three centre-backs to head down, into the turf and in.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's difficult because I am really flat. I am so proud of my players. To get let down by the officials... roll on VAR.

"We worked three weeks for this but to get let down by decisions... no major decisions went for us.

"They don't realise what is at stake. If I was a Burnley or a Brighton fan, they will be absolutely loving it today.

"It's not our fault an official can't see that, it is the most obvious offside I have ever seen or the most certain penalty I have ever seen.

"What goes through my mind? Is it payback time for me over the years?

"It's the best league in the world but the worst officials. They don't understand what is at stake. They shouldn't make mistakes at this level.

"Why am I working at 70 years of age for things like that to happen? It's not very often I am lost for words.

"My players feel like they have been kicked in the teeth. We've been kicked so many times. I don't deserve officials like that today. There is no excuse for that, it's criminal.

"if my players feel like they look in the dressing room, that's the end of our season. But how many times have we bounced back this season?"

Dele Ali is being asked to play deeper today but he still gets forward when he can - he's inside the six-yard box after Lucas Moura drives through the middle. He finds Harry Kane on the left, who plays it back to Moura, but instead of shooting he tries to take on one more defender and the chance has gone.

Liverpool are attempting to make this a fast start that suits their aggressive pressing style while Spurs are trying to be composed and take the heat out of the atmosphere.

Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris has already got away with one poor clearance. He simply cannot be that careless against this Liverpool side.
