Into the final quarter of the game. Kieran Trippier is seemingly OK by the way after that hamstring scare as Mauricio Pochettino, up in the stands, phones down some instructions to the bench.

Serge: I think we have indulged Mo Salah's selfishness a bit too long

Kaushik: Take it from me (A frustrated LFC fan) for all of Mo Salah's selfish play, it will be Bobby or Sadio who will be hooked off but not him.

Dele Alli is now playing deep in midfield, as deep as I've seen him play in a long time. It's working too, Spurs seeing more of the ball.

Mohamed Salah should have slipped the pass to Sadio Mane but he decided to take the shot and it got blocked. Good defending by Spurs and we have got a game on.

Better from Spurs again, looking good now. Kieran Trippier duffs his cross out for a goal kick though and then clutches at his hamstring. He's going to carry on but you don't usually run those off.

Liverpool then attack, two on two at the back, Mo Salah should pass it to Sadio Mane but shoots and it's another fine block, this time from Toby Alderweireld.

Peter: For me, Son is Tottenham's best player and Poch has to bring him on if he wants to get something out of this game

Szighary: A good first half for Liverpool, but they will be the catalyst to their own downfall if they keep giving the ball away!

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Spurs' best moment! Harry Kane takes the ball into the area, on his left foot and hits a low shot which Alisson doesn't save too convincingly, rather paws it out into the danger area. Christian Eriksen arrives to smash in the shot but it's well charged down by Andrew Robertson.

    Finally a chance for Tottenham.

The Anfield crowd grows anxious for the first time as they see their side lose the ball cheaply. Spurs have plenty of the ball down their left but Danny Rose and Dele Alli can't combine. At the other end James Milner finds space on the right and crosses for Roberto Firmino, but he heads over.

The only shot on target by either side in the game so far came via Roberto Firmino's goal in the 16th minute. It's not been a classic.

    Phil McNulty

Still plenty of nervousness around Anfield as Liverpool hold that slender advantage.

Spurs have started the second half with added urgency but this Liverpool side always carries a huge threat, even when they are not quite at their best.

A lovely flick from James Milner opens up Spurs, and the hosts then win a corner. They work it sharply and Virgil van Dijk then heads over at the back post.

I thought Lucas Moura was Tottenham's best attacking player in the first half and you want to see more of Harry Kane and Dele Alli. This is a huge half for both teams.

Nice flowing move from the off from the visitors, Christian Eriksen rolls into a pocket of space on the corner of the area but, with a man on his overlap on the right he instead puts his knee over the ball and drives a shot over the top.
