The crowd can't quite believe the ball didn't end up in the back of the net from that final phase of play in the Thailand penalty area. It was almost harder to miss!

Nevertheless, huge cheers go up as the half-time whistle goes. These fans have been treated to a supreme 45 minutes from their idols.

That was a completely dominant display. If the USA had got their delivery right from wide areas it would be more than 3-0 at half-time.

As it stands then, the USA are already top of the group on goal-difference, after Sweden's 2-0 win over Chile earlier. They'll have an eye on that as the night goes on.

I spoke to some fans outside the ground before kick-off who were adamant that they "need twice as many goals as Sweden".

Working on the assumption that both the USA and the Swedes will win their games against Chile and Thailand respectively on 16 June too, whoever has the mathematical edge at that stage could then afford to draw when the two rivals to top the group meet in Le Havre on 20 June for a decider.

Almost a disastrous own goal for Thailand as Sunisa Srangthaisong's clearance inside her own six yard box ricochets off Rattikan Thongsombut and away for a corner.
