    Jamaica v Australia (20:00 BST)

A hat-trick has been scored against Jamaica in each of their two group matches at the World Cup in France.

They became the third side to have conceded consecutive hat-tricks after Mexico in 1999 and Ecuador in 2015.

Will they have a third scored past them today? Sam Kerr is ready and waiting...

    Jamaica v Australia (20:00 BST)

Australia came into the tournament with pretty high hopes having reached the quarter-finals in their last three appearances.

Star striker Sam Kerr is in hot form and they are currently ranked sixth in the world. Victory in the Tournament of Nations in March was the perfect way to prepare for the World Cup too.

But Italy failed to read the script and shocked Australia to win their opening group game 2-1 thanks to a 95th-minute winner from Barbara Bonansea.

It meant Australia needed a result against Brazil to settle the ship and at 2-0 down, looked lost.

A battling second-half performance did the trick, earning Australia an excellent 3-2 win but they didn't half make it hard for themselves.

If they can perform to their best, they shouldn't have a problem today. But work needs to be done if they are to progress far in the tournament.

The stands are starting to fill up with yellow in all corners.

  5. Permutations for Australiapublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 18 June 2019

    Jamaica v Australia (20:00 BST)

Okay, brace yourselves. I spent a while trying to work this out...

Australia are in the last 16 with a draw or a win. They still have a chance of finishing runners-up if they better Brazil's result against Italy.

If both teams win, Australia will need to have won by two more goals than Brazil to move ahead on goal difference and goals scored. For example, if Brazil beat Italy 1-0, then Australia would need to win 3-0.

But if Australia win and Brazil draw, the Matildas will go through as runners-up with more points. The same applies if Brazil lose.

The only way Australia can overthrow Italy at the top of the group is if they win by a margin of AT LEAST five and the Azzurri lose.

  8. A tough start for debuts Jamaicapublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 18 June 2019

    Jamaica v Australia (20:00 BST)

It's been tough for Jamaica so far in France. The lowest-ranked country at this year's World Cup lost 3-0 in their opening match, before being thumped 5-0 by Italy.

They have conceded a penalty in each of their opening games and are yet to score a goal.

But just being here is an achievement for the 'Reggae Girlz' and they will be looking to soak up every bit of today if it is to be their final match at their debut finals.

All is not lost though. A victory here would give them some hope of progressing. That in itself would be an incredible feat given the fact Jamaica's national team had a four-year break before 2014.

  10. Australia's superb comebackpublished at 19:40 British Summer Time 18 June 2019

    Jamaica v Australia (20:00 BST)

Australia came from 2-0 down to beat Brazil 3-2 in their last group game, which massively boosted their chances of progressing.

A penalty scored by Marta and a header by Cristiane put Brazil in control in Montpellier but goals by Caitlin Foord, Chloe Logarzo and an own goal by Monica earned the Matildas a stunning win.

"We don't listen to the haters," captain Sam Kerr told reporters after the match. "We came back from the deep."

Matildas boss Ante Milicic described the comeback win as "one of the finest Australian performances I've ever seen".

"The players deserve all the rewards they were given. They never stopped believing. Hopefully this brings our country together."

  11. What happened yesterday?published at 19:38 British Summer Time 18 June 2019

This is the moment everybody is talking about. France topped Group A last night with a controversial win over Nigeria, leaving the Super Falcons fighting for their lives to stay in the World Cup.

Norway went through as runners-up with a 2-1 win, knocking opponents South Korea out in the process, while China and Spain's 0-0 draw ensured they both went through from Group B.

Germany also thrashed South Africa 4-0 to top Group B in the afternoon.

  12. Who is still in the race?published at 19:36 British Summer Time 18 June 2019

    Jamaica v Australia (20:00 BST)

Brazil and Australia both need just a draw from their respective games to guarantee qualification to the last 16 tonight.

Jamaica could still qualify in theory too. The Reggae Girlz must beat Australia and overhaul a goal-difference deficit of eight, as well as hoping for results elsewhere to go their way.

Already-qualified Italy will top their group if they do not lose to Brazil and could even win the group if they lose narrowly.
