GOAL Hibernian 1-0 Hamiltonpublished at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Florian Kamberi

Daryl Horgan whips in a tremendous cross from the left flank. Did Florian Kamberi get a touch on it on its way into the right corner? The Swiss striker is certainly claiming it.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Livingston 0-0 Dundee

Almost an opener out of the blue as Ricki Lamie's cross hits the near post, much to the relief of Dundee goalkeeper Seny Dieng.

  5. Postpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Aberdeen 0-0 St Mirren

Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson has a free header at the back post, but nods it meekly wide. He looks as if he wasn't expecting it to drop his way.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Hibernian 0-0 Hamilton

Hibs almost give new head coach Paul Heckingbottom the perfect start as Marc McNulty's low cross from the right finds Florian Kamberi at the near post, but Accies keeper Gary Woods is there to make a fantastic point-blank save.

Stevie Mallan's follow-up effort is blocked, before Mark Milligan thumps a third effort from distance just wide.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone have been doing all the attacking in the early stages at Ibrox and have muted appeals for a penalty when Matty Kennedy's curling cross finds Chris Kane unmarked 12 yards out and the striker's header hits James Tavernier in front of goal.

  8. Postpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Aberdeen 0-0 St Mirren

Aberdeen's Gary Mackay-Steven looks in the mood today. He crosses for Niall McGinn in the middle of the box, but Anton Ferdinand nips in and clears the danger. Bright opening from both teams at Pittodrie.

    Quote Message

Aberdeen are in such good form that they should take the full three points with comfort. The players Derek McInnes has got under his charge would put fear into most defences. They're scoring goals, they’ve got creativity, they're solid at the back. If they play to their top level I can only see a victory for Aberdeen

    Aberdeen v St Mirren (15:00)

On a searing scoring streak, striker Sam Cosgrove is the subject of a popular song among the Pittodrie faithful, which calls for him to be awarded the famous Ballon d'Or.

This week, Aberdeen defender Dominic Ball got in on the act, and he's not half bad...

  13. Gerrard seeks more 'intensity'published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Rangers v St Johnstone (15:00)

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard says it will not only be down to Jermain Defoe to compensate for the absence of suspended striker Alfredo Morelos.

"Everybody thinks the responsibility relies on Jermain and that's not the case," Gerrard tells Rangers TV.

"If we every miss a centre forward or a key player, I think other people have got to grab the opportunity to get goals or create goals.

"We're Rangers and we should have players at the top end of the pitch who are capable.

"That was one frustration from Kilmarnock away, but it is a very difficult surface to play on and Kilmarnock are very organised and resilient.

"Ibrox is a bigger and better pitch and, with a bit more intensity, that should be enough to get the job done."

    Morton v Ayr United (15:00)

    Kenny Crawford
    BBC Sport Scotland at Cappielow

Some interesting links for players involved at Cappielow.

Andy Murdoch, a star in Ayr’s midfield this season, was told he was surplus to requirements in Greenock last summer by then Morton manager Ray McKinnon

Lawrence Shankland is another who had a spell at Morton - scoring four times in 18 appearances in the 2016-17 campaign.

And Ton winger Greg Kiltie is on loan from Kilmarnock, so he might enjoy trying to inflict a bit of damage to Ayr’s hopes of finishing the day first place in the Championship.

  15. 'The quality of player has improved' - Kearneypublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Aberdeen v St Mirren (15:00)

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney is sticking by his decision to recruit 10 players in the January window, and is confident they will start coming good. He said on Sportsound: "The changes we've made I think are absolutely for the better, the quality of player has improved. The key thing is the players make the quick transition to Scottish football."

On today's game plan, Kearney said: "We want to keep the back door shut for as long as possible but it's important that we carry an attacking threat and we feel we have the players to do that today."

Glorious sunshine bathes the Pittodrie pitch and it’s pretty mild too, though not so warm at the back of the stand that I haven’t plugged in my trusty portable heater. Best Christmas present ever!

Anyhow, that pitch looks a bit boggy to me but when I put that to Derek McInnes, he said it had just been watered because they wanted a slicker surface.

  17. Hibs will 'be a bit different in how we approach it'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Hibernian v Hamilton (15:00)

New Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom says he is "excited" about getting his reign started against Hamilton at Easter Road today.

"I’m looking forward to it," he told BBC Sportsound. "You get that first day out of the way and then it’s just working with the players. You have to build slowly, that’s just part of the process.

"Football’s not changed since I’ve been out. It’s about getting the results and affecting people and you can do that in lots of different ways."

Heckingbottom said he "didn't really realise" he had picked the same starting side that beat Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup last week.

"We are short on numbers. I wouldn't say the 11 picked itself because there’s one or two that have stood out for me in training that haven’t made the team, but the 18 picked itself.

"It will be a bit different in how we approach it within this personnel. But they will all get opportunities; it's up to them to force their way in."

    Livingston v Dundee (15:00)

    Jonathan Sutherland
BBC Sport Scotland at the Tony Macaroni Arena

Artificial surfaces have been the talk of the week and both sides will be hoping the bounce of the ball goes their way.

Dundee have never won here in the top flight - six games, three defeats, three draws. In fact, Jim McIntyre’s tenure as Dundee boss began with a 4-0 defeat here.

It’s not much better for Livingston. December 14th was the last time they tasted victory, that thumping 5-0 demolition of Hearts. Since then, an eight game winless run.

  19. 'The onus is on Aberdeen' - McInnespublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    Aberdeen v St Mirren (15:00)

The Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes feels St Mirren's game plan at Pittodrie will be to sit back and frustrate his side. He said on Sportsound: "The mantra from St Mirren will be to keep the game tight, let the crowd get on top of the team and show their frustration. The onus is on us to try to impose ourselves."

On Michael Devlin making his first start since November, McInnes said: "It's a welcome addition with Scott McKenna suspended and Shay Logan injured. He was in good form before the injury, in the national set up. He's desperate to be a success here at Aberdeen."

  20. Stooshie of the week #2 - part 2published at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2019

    SFA disciplinary system

Under increasing fire, the SFA has been at pains to underline that this season's disciplinary changes came "following extensive consultation across the Scottish footballing family".

And it should be stressed that the dreaded notices of complaint are not dished out by Whyte personally - but only when a panel of three former referees are in unanimous agreement - and after match officials confirm the incident - or part of the incident - in question was unseen by them.

If a club wants to appeal against a decision, then they are in the hands of another three-person panel.

"No consistency", "a shambles" and "bewildering" were just some of the comments from Sportsound guests Kenny Miller, Kris Commons and Ian McCall on Wednesday's edition of Sportsound.

The SFA also say: "A focused effort has been made by to improve transparency and understanding of the disciplinary processes this season."

    Hmmm...
