The England XI all exchanged high-fives with the rest of the squad as they walked off down the tunnel looking focused, in a magnificent position.

As an overall performance, that's got to be up there among the most impressive halves of football by any side in this tournament, perhaps behind only the USA's ruthless 10 second-half goals against minnows Thailand and France's rampant opening 45 minutes against South Korea. But this is in a quarter-final!

Kate: Great first half for England. My money’s on a Jill Scott hat trick second half

Koller's blog: Herlovsen & Graham-Hansen need to show much better partnership and understanding if they're to get back into this game.

    Ex-England striker on BBC One

The England defence in general has been so calm, they've made the right pass and gone long when they need to. They have to keep it going, though, because Norway will keep coming back at them.

  5. 'Unplayable'published at 20:52 British Summer Time 27 June 2019

    Izzy Christiansen
    England and Lyon midfielder

I think England have been unplayable and it is going to be a long night for those tired Norwegian legs because they don't want to be chasing the ball around for another 45 minutes.

That goal puts Ellen White in esteemed company.

    Alex Scott
    Ex-England international on BBC One

Norway couldn’t handle or contain England's tempo. You could see Norway were shaken from the start. The whole play for the first goal, the whole build-up was fantastic. The third-man run from Jill Scott and finish was exceptional.

  9. Stokes justifies selectionpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 27 June 2019

    Norway 0-2 England

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

Another blistering first half for England. They've sparkled down the right, but equally as impressive, but less notable, has been Demi Stokes' defensive contribution. Preferred instead of Alex Greenwood, she has given added support to centre-back Millie Bright to nullify Caroline Graham Hansen.

Jill Scott's goal after two minutes and seven seconds was the fastest scored at this tournament and also England’s fastest ever goal at a Women’s World Cup.

Scott has now scored at three different World Cups, equalling the England record set by Fara Williams.

Jill Scott's ball comes all the way through to Toni Duggan. The Barcelona forward lays it off to Demi Stokes.

The left-back lifts it in invitingly for Scott at the back post. The midfielder manages to reach it with an outstretched leg but it drops inches wide of the right post!

    It's easy for Ellen White. It's just a tap-in but she's a predator.

What a move. It's unbelievable play. It starts with Steph Houghton and it's a fantastic pass by Lucy Bronze.
