    England 1-2 USA

Jill Scott touches it past Lindsey Horan on the edge of the area and tries to run around the other side.

The USA striker holds her ground and plays for a foul as Scott clips her heels in frustration.

  2. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    England 1-2 USA

The free-kick is played deep towards the back post where Millie Bright is coming onto it. The centre-back manages to head it down and back into the centre.

It bounces off Julie Ertz and there's a scramble for it. Ellen White tries an overhead kick but it falls into the hands of the keeper.

I think Bright was offside in the first instance anyway!

You can see nothing has changed with the England set-up at the start of the second half, but as the game wears on, I'm sure it will.

    Izzy Christiansen

We need more creativity and this game is crying out for a number 10, with the likes of Fran Kirby and Karen Carney, to take the ball on the half turn and play.

It's all about character - the belief in that dressing room that you've got a goal, so you can get another.

    Rachel Yankey
Ex-England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has been a fantastic game. England knew they had to weather the storm and they got themselves back into the game, but it's disappointing to be behind.

They have to keep the ball better and disorganise the USA.

It went the way I was expecting in terms of pace, the USA dictating. England did OK for half an hour. There's more in us, I know there is. But the strength of the USA is showing.

Keira Walsh is the key. Get it to her, she's the pivot - she's passing it right and passing it left. She's choosing the right pass.

There's a lot of football to be played in this game, we're going to be OK. Unfortunately [the optimism is going] it's going away but I'm going to stick to it.

Our wingers jump-start the attack. The service is always on point. But it was poor marking again for the second and a perfect header from Alex Morgan.

Just communication. Millie Bright could have picked up that run.

If you've been following the story of the 'lost Lionesses' you'll be pleased to know they've made it to Lyon to cheer on the modern day England team!

These women all played in the unofficial Women's World Cup in 1971 in front of 90,000 people, during a time when females were banned from playing football in Britain.

Danny Thomas: England’s best partnership I believe is Parris and Bronze. Get Parris out wide and get Kirby on the ball. Daly off for Kirby.

Joel Coady: Big half time for Phil Neville. England have struggled against the USA press and crosses from our left. We are still well in this though.

Across our defensive line, we have not won enough headed balls. We need to improve on that in the second half.

Our key player has been Keira Walsh and we need to keep getting the ball to her, she can ping it left and right.

    How good is Ellen White?

She has had two touches inside the box and one of those turned into a goal. It was also her first and only shot on target.

Give her a chance and she will take it. Two of her eight touches in that half were from the kick-off!

It seemed like nerves on the English side to start with. It took England some time to settle into the match.

Christen Press runs. She has a nose for the goal like Ellen White. But for me it's back defending. Lucy Bronze isn't watching her.
