    HT: USA 0-0 Netherlands

The Netherlands did not have a shot of any description until the first-half injury time.

But nine of their 11 World Cup goals have come in the second half, with seven of those in the 75th minute or later.

Four saves for Sari van Veenendaal equals the most a goalkeeper has had to make in the first half of any game at this World Cup.

This is the first time the USA have failed to score in the opening 12 minutes of a game in France.

  2. 'Miedema causing problems'published at 17:00 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    HT: USA 0-0 Netherlands

    Izzy Christiansen
England and Lyon midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has been fascinating to see how the Dutch have set up and how Vivianne Miedema's role is causing more problems than meet the eye.

Sari van Veenendaal has kept her team in this tournament, not just this game today. She has been the saving grace for her team in the entire World Cup.

  6. 'I like the Dutch physicality'published at 16:55 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    Alex Scott
    Ex-England international on BBC One

I like the fact the Dutch are bringing the physical side to it. Yes they need to balance it out a bit but in the second half they need to stay concentrated.

The referee could have kept blowing up all the time and so we need to praise referees when they let the game flow like it is.

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC One

It has been a brilliant 45 minutes. The Dutch have come out fighting. They have gone long when they need to do and that has left the US unsure how to tackle them - do we squeeze or not squeeze.

Former England forward on BBC One

I think the Dutch team has done fantastically well with their endeavour and effort. They kept their shape and I think they caused the US a few problems too.

There was a 10 minute spell earlier in the first half where the USA had 75% possession but they still didn't manage to make a breakthrough.

    Will that prove costly?

Vivianne Miedema hasn't had much of a look-in in this half but she carries the ball past four defenders and reaches the backline.

She hooks it into the centre and it comes to Dominique Bloodworth on the edge. She hits it first time and it's deflected out for a corner.

The resulting set-piece is scrambled off the line by the USA before it's hastily cleared by Rose Lavelle!

Kelley O'Hara and Lieke Martens clatter into each other as they challenge for a ball in the air on the left.

There's a horrible thump and the two go straight to the floor. They are moving but are being checked over by the medical team, and rightly so.

The Dutch break quickly after another USA attack and Abby Dahlkemper brings down Lineth Beerensteyn.

She goes into the book and the Netherlands have a free-kick in a very, very inviting area just outside of the box.
