    James Scowcroft
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio London

Defending well and switching on is the key to getting something from this game for West Ham. Paul Pogba has had a good game but it has been stop/start and they have lacked consistency in the first half.

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

Played again Felipe Anderson, who skips away from Fred, gets into the area and flashes in a low cross which David de Gea does well to kick clear. West Ham have looked sharp in attack but are yet to have a shot on target.

  4. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

Decent chance for Chris Smalling, free from Juan Mata's corner but he heads over the bar.

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

    James Scowcroft

They were having an argument while the game was being played at the other end of the pitch. Angelo Ogbonna was probably playing everyone onside.

  7. Fred v Declan Ricepublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

There are a lot of rumours about a summer bid for Declan Rice by Manchester United and it is interesting to see how the new England international is doing today.

He has been tidy enough in possession sat in front of the Hammers back four and looks fairly unflustered in what is his first start at Old Trafford.

But is he any better than Fred, who was excellent against Barcelona in midweek and is doing quite well today?

Given the choice of both men, Rice might be the better bet given his age and nationality. But as he is already at United, and Rice would cost a fairly substantial transfer fee, it does make you wonder if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks it would be worth it.

Sampson: WORST penalty decision of the premier league EVER! I repeat WORST penalty decision EVER! That Ref should be banned

Noel: Pellegrini's half time team talk is going to be like that first day at school, when West Ham's defenders are introduced to each other!

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

Slick, sharp passing from West Ham on the edge of the area but Mark Noble, after being found inside the area, can't connect with his cross.

Dare I say West Ham could do with Andy Carroll out there today?

  12. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

An odd game this, both sides look like scoring with every attack.

West Ham had a penalty shout at that last corner as Manuel Lanzini was held back by Phil Jones, nothing given. And Manchester United then come down swiftly at the other end, Paul Pogba has two shots charged down and then Juan Mata overhits his final pass.

  13. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

West Ham look a real threat from set-pieces as Felipe Anderson's near-post flick on flies just wide at the far post. Just needed a touch from someone.

Not too worried about this season now. Ole will have the summer, get new players in, young players coming through. Next season United will be back.

Simon Latson: West Ham are are being absolutely robbed at Old Trafford.

Mark Davey: Sums up our season. Anderson Goal was not offside. We have dropped points because of no VAR. Bring it on next season.

Andy Mercer: Two lucky decisions for Man United. Never a penalty.

Paul Pogba gives away a foul as he catches Rob Snodgrass with a high boot. No team has taken more Premier League penalties than Man Utd this season (11, level with Crystal Palace).

  18. Solskjaer making his pointpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

At the start of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure as Manchester United manager, it was noticeable how little he went into the technical area.

Maybe it is a response to four defeats in five games but he has been in there quite a lot today.

He has been pointing at Marcos Rojo on the far side of the pitch and guiding Diogo Dalot through the game on the near side.

He congratulated Paul Pogba on his goal before sitting down again.
