    Paul Pogba (Pen)

In your face Rob. Just your average number of steps in the run up as Paul Pogba comes forwards and smashes the penalty down the middle.

Manuel Pellegrini is not a happy chap. He seems to be indicating that the foul was outside the box.

Hopefully he will prove me wrong now, but it seems to me that Pogba has been the problem for a while. I won't be sorry to see him go.

Sho: As usual another poor start from United at home. Can't blame Ole for the because it's been the same the past 5 years. Can't understand the mentality these players start the game with.

Nathan House: You’ve got to love the Rojo Roulette United manager’s seem to like to play. Will he have a belter? Will he give away a penalty? Will he have a nightmare? Will he bring down the monastery?

    Man Utd 0-0 West Ham

Great football - Romelu Lukaku playing a lovely pass inside the West Ham full-back for Jesse Lingard to sprint on to, he plays a cracking ball in front of Lukasz Fabianksi but there's nobody there to capitalise and score.

I'm informed that another angle of that disallowed goal suggests that West Ham may after all have been hard done by with that disallowed goal as Diogo Dalot - at the bottom of the shot - may have played Felipe Anderson on.

We need VAR, and at the same time we dread it...

Red Devil: Why on earth is there a full strength team out today? I'd have the U18 all playing this game and rest everyone for Barca game.

babyboomer: United have gone back to passing like they were doing before Ole. Straight to a team-mates feet which means he has to stand still waiting for the ball while the defenders come in & intercept or tackle as he receives the ball.

In that battle for possession just then, Paul Pogba lost a glove.

Now he has taken the other one off. They are both on the ground, in the West Ham half. All alone. How sad.

  9. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 9 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 West Ham

Felipe Anderson has the ball in the net - but he's offside! Same end as the Barca goal in midweek but there's no chance of this one being overruled. A cross from the left is headed down, Anderson volleys home superbly scissor-style but he was a good yard off.

Flat from United thus far though.

Paul Pogba breaks up a West Ham move with a crunching tackle on halfway but it soon breaks down. Quiet inside Old Trafford at the moment.

Good move from the hosts as Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku link up nicely, Diogo Dalot sends in a deflected cross which nearly catches out Lukasz Fabianski.

Dalot is playing at right-back today, after a run-out as a left wing-back against Barca in midweek.

West Ham full-back Arthur Masuaku strides forwards and slams a shot into the Stretford End. Bright opening from the visitors.

West Ham have scored one goal in their last seven away games. Grim! They do win a free-kick in the opening seconds though. Wasted.

It's equality and inclusivity day at Manchester United today.

No club is immune from the kind of negative headlines that have stuck to Chelsea and Arsenal this week due to the behaviour of a small number of supporters.

However, all are working hard to improve the situation.

United have found a very visual way to do it today with banners hung from the front entrance to Old Trafford.

There may be some external scepticism about the 'illness' that has ruled West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic out of today's game but it is genuine apparently.

The Austria forward was absent from training this week and manager Manuel Pellegrini decided he was not fit to travel.

Arnautovic has struggled for form after a proposed lucrative move to China fell through in January. He did play well in the second-half against Chelsea on Monday though.

Manchester United are five points off a cherished top-four spot before kick-off. Work to be done.

West Ham? Well they are the living, breathing definition of 'season over.'

They kick-off in 11th and will stay there no matter what happens.

They've got four of their next six games at home and they have to start winning at Old Trafford again.

It's very important they get Mike Phelan to sign alongside Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - a young manager needs that experience to help them.

I think they're just going to miss out on the top four - the games they have left I think are too tough for them.

  20. De Gea captaincy materialpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

Man Utd v West Ham (17:30BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

With Ashley Young out, David de Gea has been named Manchester United skipper by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It is an interesting move by Solskjaer given Chris Smalling has done the job before and is the longest serving player in United's starting line-up. Paul Pogba has been given the armband by Solskjaer also after it was removed by Jose Mourinho.

Antonio Valencia is set to leave in the summer, so the job full-time is up for grabs.

Solskjaer was asked about it in his press conference yesterday.

"I've got a couple of players in my head that could be in the group for the captaincy. We'll see who's here for next season."
