  2. 'We'd be disappointed if he left' - McInnespublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    Quote Message

He’s done a remarkable job at Celtic. He’s made the players there previously better which is always an indication. What he has been from day one for Celtic is very good for them and for Scottish football. He’s been good for the Scottish game and if he does leave, then we’re disappointed because we’d lose such a high-calibre manager. He’s his own man and he’s got his own decisions to make.

Rod Stewart has been known to have a wee greet at Celtic matches, and the singer is a touch upset about Brendan Rodgers' likely departure too.

"It's ruined my holiday. I actually got a bit choked up I must admit," Stewart told TalkSport.

"Obviously he was going to go sooner or later, but I would have thought he would have seen out the next two-and-a-half months and get the treble Treble if possible. I think there might be a lot of ill-feeling at Celtic now with the fans with him leaving us in the lurch It's like me giving up halfway through a tour."

It’s a surprise. I don’t know what Brendan’s thought process was. I know he was very good for Celtic. I know he was on the brink of doing something quite spectacular. In some ways I will be sad to see him go. He has been good for the game up here. But things change and times move on and he has obviously decided he wants a new challenge. They are a Premier League club in England so I can see the attraction

  10. Peter is in the housepublished at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

We are getting reports that Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has just arrived the club's training ground in Lennoxtown. Neil Lennon's agent has also been spotted, but without Lennon himself. Read into that what you like...

  11. A quick recap of where we arepublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

Just in case you are just joining us folks, here is what you have missed:

    • Brendan Rodgers is in talks with Leicester City about becoming their new manager.
    • Neil Lennon is "likely" to be the man to replace him at Celtic Park, albeit until the end of the season.
    • Rodgers has won seven trophies from seven at Celtic and currently has them eight points ahead of Rangers.
    • He walked out on an interview when asked about his future following the 4-1 win over Motherwell in Sunday.
    • Neil Lennon has been pictured buying a suit in Glasgow (no, seriously).
    • Brendan Rodgers has not been pictured buying a sausage roll at a service station somewhere on the M1.

  12. And the answer is...published at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

Thanks to all three of you who Googled the answer to the question posed earlier: Where did Brendan Rodgers' first game as Celtic manager take place?

The answer is Celje, Slovenia! Of course it is...

Rodgers had only a few days at Lennoxtown with his squad before jetting off to Maribor on pre-season tour. However, his new era quite literally nearly didn't get off the ground. The chartered flight sat for three hours at Glasgow Airport, before having to be diverted to Zagreb as Maribor Airport had shut for the day.

A few days later they made the easier trip to Celje, where a 2-2 draw was played out in blistering heat.

I massively respect the fact that Brendan Rodgers is set to walk away from trophies and medals at Celtic to join Leicester City. It's an early sign of his commitment to the club.

  19. 'It comes at the most craziest point'published at 13:14

Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald told BBC Scotland: "It just comes at the most craziest point in the season though, doesn’t it? They go to Hearts tomorrow night. If they don’t win that, the gap goes to five points.

"And then the Scottish Cup on Sunday as well. If they were to go out of that, all of a sudden the treble treble is gone and the league table all of a sudden gets more interesting once again. Could Rangers close the gap? It will be a huge job for Neil Lennon.
