  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

We have a bit of a break in proceedings, with Sunderland's Aiden McGeady getting some treatment.

He hasn't been nearly as effective in this second half.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth bring on striker Oliver Hawkins for Omar Bogle, who's had a pretty frustrating afternoon.

Portsmouth's little burst of pressure here has definitely forced both sets of supporters to up the noise levels all the way to 11 as they might have said in This Is Spinal Tap.

A Pompey goal now might well be heard all the way back on the south coast such is the volume.

  3. Postpublished at 67 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

All of a sudden it's Sunderland boss Jack Ross who probably needs to turn to his bench.

Portsmouth are unbeaten in their past seven meetings with Sunderland and look particularly keen to keep that run going and force extra time at least.

  4. CLOSE!published at 64 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

Pompey come forward again - sub Gareth Evans puts in a nice ball which is flicked on by a Sunderland defender in the path of Nathan Thompson, who shoots over under pressure from keeper Jon McLaughlin.

Moments later Jamal Lowe drags a low shot wide after being played in by Brett Pitman.

    Sunderland are hanging on!

Brett Pitman has hardly had a kick in this final, but strikes against the post for Portsmouth!

He controls the ball on his knee outside the box and his low volley beats Jon McLaughlin but hits the outside of the post.

You have to say Sunderland are going through the motions a bit, as if they think they did enough to win this final in the first half.

Kenny Jackett's gamble there on winger Ronan Curtis clearly not quite having the desired effect as he brings on semi-final match-winner Gareth Evans in his place.

Hard to know really how much time Curtis has had on the training pitch in the build-up to this final after that horrific finger injury of his.

Evans should give them a bit more steel in central midfield though.

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

The Pompey fans can be heard loud and clear as their team try to make something happen in the final third.

    Jamal Lowe looks particularly lively.

Meanwhile, Gareth Evans replaces Ronan Curtis, who was a surprise starter after recently having finger surgery.

  8. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

Ronan Curtis gallops clear for Pompey but Lee Cattermole does what Lee Cattermole does best and wins the ball back with a terrific sliding challenge.

Much more intent from Kenny Jackett's side, but nothing to worry Sunderland yet.

  9. CLOSE!published at 49 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

Pompey win themselves a corner and Omar Bogle sees a header cleared off the line!

But play is brought back for a foul from Bogle on Luke O'Nien.

    However that's encouraging for Portsmouth.

Sunderland get the second half started at Wembley.

No changes yet for Portsmouth - but I'm sure Kenny Jackett won't wait long if he doesn't see any improvement from his side.

These sides have had a break from league football this weekend but there was still a busy programme of EFL games on Saturday.

The final weekend of March gave us some captivating promotion fights, impressive bids to dodge the drop and a team on the most boring run in English football for more than a decade.

Here are five things you may have missed from Saturday's EFL action...

    HT: Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

Alan Jerram: I'm going to have to stop following the game... so nervous! Seems the boys need to turn it up in the second half.

Kyle: Brilliant free kick and that's the sort of goal worthy of winning any cup final. Long way to go but it's no more than Sunderland deserve. They are much the better side so far. Pompey haven't got going.

Pompey had a poor first half but on the plus side they can't really play any worse after the break, and are still well in this final...

    StatsImage source, BBC Sport

Stats don't always tell the full story, but they sum up that first half pretty well.

Pompey started decently but Sunderland soon took control and were relentless as the half wore on.

Kenny Jackett has the likes of James Vaughan and Oliver Hawkins on his bench if he wants to change things.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

Portsmouth can't have too many complaints about being behind at the midway stage of this final.

Goalscorer Aiden McGeady and Lewis Morgan have been sensational for Sunderland on the flanks, causing defenders all sorts of problems.

You wouldn't be surprised to see a Pompey change at the interval...

  15. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

It's getting a bit physical out there now, with referee Dean Whitestone letting some committed challenges go.

One minute of stoppage time has been added at the end of this first half.

  16. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Wembley

Thoroughly deserved lead this for Sunderland who have had all the chances since a brief spell from Portsmouth in the opening 15 minutes.

Looked like Pompey centre-back Matt Clarke saw the ball brush off his shoulder as it went over the defensive wall from McGeady's free-kick.

But, even without that touch - Craig MaGillivray might have been struggling to reach it in the goal.

  17. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderland

    How do Portsmouth respond?

Omar Bogle has really struggling to hold the ball up for them in attack and he needs more support.

Kenny Jackett had better have some words of wisdom for his players at half-time.

  18. goal

GOAL: Portsmouth 0-1 Sunderlandpublished at 38 mins

    Aiden McGeady

Sunderland have the goal they deserve!

Aiden McGeady wins the battle to take the free-kick and his curling effort takes a nick off the Pompey wall and beats Craig MacGillivray.

The Republic of Ireland playmaker has been the best player on the pitch and has his reward.

  19. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Portsmouth 0-0 Sunderland

Aiden McGeady dribbles, beats a man and is fouled on the edge of the box - again.

This time it's Pompey's Nathan Thompson who dives in - there are several Sunderland candidates to take this free-kick.

Around 20 yards out and in a great position.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 35 mins

    Portsmouth 0-0 Sunderland

Pompey can't properly clear a corner and Lewis Morgan unleashes a firm volley from outside the box which is beaten away by Craig MacGillivray.

That's the closest Sunderland have come - their opponents need half-time, you feel.
