For a man who has three promotions, two play-off finals and a Football League Trophy to his name as a manager, Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett isn't spoken about too much.

The former Millwall and Wolves manager could put himself firmly on the radar with victory at Wembley today and promotion for Pompey to the Championship.

One thing is for sure - Sunderland supporters sure know how to party.

Thousands of Mackems descended on Trafalgar Square last night for a vocal warm-up before this afternoon's final, where they're expected to be back by 40,000 fans.

You can't fail to be impressed.

The Checkatrade Trophy has its critics but we have two massive teams - and what is expected to be a sell-out crowd - for this Wembley final.

Before this season, the last time Portsmouth and Sunderland met was in the Premier League in February 2010.

But they are not the only clubs to have reached the final of the EFL Trophy, in its various guises, and played in the Premier League.

Portsmouth make one change for the Checkatrade Final, Ronan Curtis returning from a freak finger injury to start in place of Gareth Evans.

Striker Will Grigg has overcome an ankle problem to start for Sunderland, who make two changes - Reece James and George Honeyman in for Max Power and the injured Adam Matthews.

I hope a lot of Sunderland and Portsmouth fans went and wished their mother's a happy Mother's Day yesterday as there are absolutely bucket-loads of them at Wembley today.

The scene on Wembley Way, even more than two hours before kick-off, was bustling and buzzing. Tremendous turnout.

Both these clubs have really embraced the chance to have a day out here today knowing full well we could be in for a repeat of this fixture in the League One play-off final come the end of May.

Let's hope the action on the pitch lives up to the passion shown off it by both sets of fans.

Portsmouth and Sunderland have both played in more illustrious Wembley cup finals in the past 10 years.

Pompey's last appearance came in the 2010 FA Cup final, when Chelsea beat them 1-0. That's their only defeat in five games at the new Wembley.

Sunderland's only previous appearance at the rebuilt Wembley saw them lose 3-1 to Manchester City in the 2014 League Cup final. Their last competitive victory at the stadium was the 1973 FA Cup final against Leeds.

When Portsmouth opened their Checkatrade Trophy campaign with a 4-0 win over Gillingham in front of 2,011 fans at Fratton Park, you probably wouldn't have predicted it would finish in front of more than 80,000 at Wembley.

This afternoon's final with Sunderland is set to have the biggest crowd for any final in the competition's history, surpassing the 80,841 who saw Wolves beat Burnley in 1988.

It will be one of the highest attended football matches in Europe this weekend, though the 92,795 who watched Barcelona beat Espanyol on Saturday won't be beaten here.

It's the end of March and we have the second Wembley cup final of the season between two sides who were in the Premier League not so long ago.

Portsmouth and Sunderland fans will hope they don't have to play in the Checkatrade Trophy next season - with promotion from League One top of their agendas - but this afternoon they'll try to bring joy to their huge fanbases who have been through a lot over recent years.
