  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 58 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

What a chance for Hibs! They should be level!

Marc McNulty nudges his way on to a lofted ball down the left. Daryl Horgan is haring through the middle. McNulty slides the ball into the Irishman's path, he's clean through, he just needs to finish...

But the legs of Allan McGregor deny the onrushing Hibs man. Brilliant save.

And the veteran stopper is up again to deny McNulty on the rebound from a very tight angle.

  2. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

The free-kick is whipped in but Hibs manage to scramble away.

We've seen the replays of David Gray's tackle and frankly he couldn't have had too many complaints if he'd been sent off.

  3. Gray scythes down Morelospublished at 56 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

That's a dreadful tackle from David Gray on Alfredo Morelos, who knocks the ball away from the Hibs captain up the left flank.

Gray chops him down and earns one of the most blatant yellow cards you will ever see.

Chance for Rangers to load up the Hibs box.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 53 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

Now it's Rangers' turn to threaten and a clever move up the right sets James Tavernier into the box.

His shot, from a tight angle, is palmed away by Marciano and Ryan Jack volleys the rebound well over from the edge of the box.

  5. Hibs looking sharperpublished at 52 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

Decent chance for Hibs after Marc McNulty wins a corner. Lots of runners arriving, particularly David Gray and Darren McGregor, but James Tavernier flicks the ball away. The Hibs skipper Gray may have lost the flight of the ball as he galloped into the box.

Hibs have tweaked their shape, without doubt. Milligan now is totally withdrawn sitting, it looks like a 1-3 rather than the flat four. Mallan is a lot more central with Omeonga and Horgan coming in to make up the three in front of Milligan.

  7. Goldson sees yellowpublished at 49 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

Connor Goldson picks up the second yellow card of the game after his arm connects with the face of Marc McNulty.

Pretty similar to the yellow Darren McGregor was shown early in the first half after catching Alfredo Morelos in the chops.

  8. Rangers wall stands firmpublished at 48 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

Pretty anticlimactic in the end, that. Mallan smashes his free-kick into the wall. It would have been very harsh on Rangers too given how soft an award that was. Ryan Jack held his ground and Mallan hit the deck.

  9. Early chance for Mallanpublished at 47 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

Stevie Mallan earns a free-kick in the opening minute of second half. It's about 25 yards out, right in the middle of the pitch. This is Mallan territory, for sure...

  10. Back under waypublished at 46 mins

    Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

Hibs get the second half going. No substitutions at the interval.

  11. Here we go again...published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2019

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

The teams are trooping back out. Can Rangers continue their sheer supremacy, or will Hibs turn the tables?

    We're about to find out...

  12. Will Hibs change things up?published at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2019

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

That was a pretty abject 45 minutes from Hibs.

They are depleted by injuries and suspension, but surely Paul Heckingbottom will be changing things up a bit at half-time - either in terms of formation or personnel.

Marvin Bartley might be thrown on to add ballast to a midfield that's been hideously dominated thus far.

  13. Can Hibs contain Rangers?published at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2019

    Quote Message

If one the two Hibs' strikers are not dropping off and marking the holding midfielder, then the ball gets through and Rangers are able to burst the Hibs' midfield. I wonder if Paul Heckingbottom is going to make a change to try and contain Rangers a bit more.

  14. More fan trouble at Easter Roadpublished at 20:42 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2019

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

That incident with Tavernier came just days after Hibs chief executive Leeann Dempster issued a strongly-worded statement on fan behaviour. That followed the throwing of a glass bottle at Celtic forward Scott Sinclair during Hibs' Scottish Cup loss.

"Any supporter caught engaging in behaviour that places players, staff and other fans at risk will be dealt with in the strongest possible terms available to us, whether that involves exclusion from Easter Road Stadium, a Football Banning Order or criminal prosecution when appropriate," Dempster said.

It's just unacceptable, it's just lunacy. It's some idiot thinking he can enter the field of play. Stay away from the pitch, nobody wants to see you there. We should be speaking about how well Rangers have played in this match and some of the last-ditch defending from Hibs.

  16. Tavernier confronted by fanpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2019

    fan on pitchImage source, SNS

Oh dear. Right at the end of the first half, a fan is on the pitch and tries to boot the ball away from James Tavernier, who is stooping to retrieving it from the touchline.

There's a push and a shove from the supporter, who is swiftly grabbed by the authorities and removed from the pitch.

Disgraceful stuff at Easter Road, just six days after a bottle was thrown at Celtic's Scott Sinclair.

  17. HALF-TIME Hibernian 0-1 Rangerspublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2019

Well, that was eventful. Rangers are absolutely battering Hibs. They've had a glut of huge chances and could be completely out of sight at the interval.

Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield and Ryan Kent have been denied by a combination of brilliant Ofir Marciano saves and desperate last-ditch blocks from the Hibs defence.

The hosts have hardly had a kick, hopelessly overrun in midfield, and the irony is that their only real chance led to the Rangers goal.

Flo Kamberi had his shot blocked amid confusion on the edge of the box and a Rangers breakaway culminated in a delicious curling effort from Daniel Candeias. A richly-deserved lead.

That comes from Hibs, who probably should have scored up the other end. Rangers stop but then counter, and it's a lovely finish from Candeias. It's been coming.

  20. goal

GOAL Hibernian 0-1 Rangerspublished at 43 mins

    Daniel Candeias

    Well, that was utter chaos.

Hibs are on the attack with Marc McNulty breaking into the box - the assistant referee sticks his flag up but play is allowed to continue.

The ball breaks to Kamberi on the edge of the box but his initial shot is blocked by Connor Goldson and the rebound bounces past the Swiss, who watches it bobble away.

Off go Rangers on the counter and this time they punish Hibs. Daniel Candeias sees his first effort blocked, but steadies himself, cuts in on his left foot, and curls a brilliant shot into the top corner.

A deserved - if unconventional - lead for Rangers.
