Portsmouth are making a decent fist of this since the break, but still the visitors lead through that Jordy Hiwula strike.

Coventry goalkeeper Lee Burge has even just been booked for a spot of time-wasting. It looked a bit harsh, that.

A chance for Ben Marshall inside the Villa box, but he takes his time to get his shot away and then claims a handball.

    Aston Villa 1-0 Millwall

    Aston Villa 1-0 Millwall

A let-off for Millwall as Jack Grealish's deflected shot from outside the area looks like it is going to fall to goalscorer Jonathan Kodjia.

But David Martin is on hand to smother the ball from in front of the Villa striker, who wasn't quite alert enough as the ball dropped to him off Jake Cooper.

He may have been denied a minute ago, but then he makes no mistake with his next chance.

From a slick passing move, Anwar El Ghazi slides the ball along the six yard box and Jonathan Kodjia is there to get ahead of his marker and turn the ball in from six yards out.

Villa hit the front with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:31 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Millwall keeper David Martin makes a massive save as a loose back-pass from Ryan Leonard lets in Jonathan Kodjia.

The striker gets ahead of two defenders and is one-on-one with the keeper but Martin does enough to get a foot on the ball and deny Kodjia the opening goal.

  11. YELLOW CARD (Cooper, Millwall)published at 13:29 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper goes into the book for fouling Jonathan Kodjia.

The Villa striker had clipped the ball past the big defender, who then clipped him just level with the centre-circle.

  12. Postpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Anwar El Ghazi puts in a threatening cross into the Millwall box from the left, but Jake Cooper is on hand to head it out for a corner from just ahead of Jonathan Kodjia.

It's a decent inswinging delivery from Jack Grealish, but Lions keeper David Martin gathers that one confidently.

  13. Postpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Midway through the first half, and Lions boss Neil Harris is cutting a relaxed figure on the sidelines.

His side have weathered the first quarter of the match and Villa have not had too many clear-cut openings so far this afternoon.

  14. Postpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Millwall have a shot at goal with a free-kick some 25 yards out.

Shane Ferguson takes it - it suits the left-footer, just being to the right of the D - but sends it about 10 rows back in the Holte End.

Villa fans give gentle jeers to that one as it sails well over the bar.

  15. goal

GOAL: Southend 1-0 Burtonpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Sam Mantom (19 mins)

This could be a big, big goal in context of the League One relegation scrap.

Simon Cox delivers, Sam Mantom converts from inside the area and struggling Southend United are ahead at Roots Hall.

Victory here would lift the Shrimpers out of the bottom four - temporarily, at least.

  16. Postpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Another half-chance for the Lions from the resulting corner, as Alex Pearce's hooked ball back across goal is cleared away by a Villa defender inside the six-yard box.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Millwall almost break the deadlock, but Villa keeper Jed Steer makes a cracking stop to turn Jed Wallace's left-footed effort behind for a corner.

Wallace had turned outside the box and let fly from 25 yards out, but the keeper was equal to it, saving acrobatically.

Coventry City have been absolutely superb in the first half - they've got better and better as the game has gone on.

After Bright Enobakhare shows great feet to force a corner, Amadou Bakayoko fires a shot towards goal from the resulting set-piece only for it to be blocked by his team-mate and Sky Blues goalscorer Jordy Hiwula.

  20. Postpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 22 April 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Millwall

Millwall work their best attacking move of the game, building up a phase of passing before Jed Wallace's cross from the right is cleared away by Tyrone Mings.

The centre-back has to be alert again to block a long-distance effort from Ben Marshall.
