Scott Hogan has not had it easy this season.

The frontman found himself out of the picture at Aston Villa before joining Sheffield United on loan in January.

This is just his fifth start for the Blades but his goal could prove to be the one that all-but secures them Premier League football.

    It's all Sheffield United now.

The hosts play a corner back to Oliver Norwood on the edge of the area and his strike seems destined for the back of the net before a brave block sends it out for another corner.

That Scott Hogan goal puts Sheffield United top of the Championship table, for what it's worth!

But for today, it's all about getting the win that will effectively seal promotion, barring a mathematical miracle in Leeds' favour in the final week of the season.

They've been boosted by that goal, just Hogan's second strike of the season, and are looking for a second before the break.

Bramall Lane is, unsurprisingly, absolutely bouncing now.

The hosts had just lost their early impetus but that goal will settle the players right down.

    Lift off!

Patient play on the edge of the Ipswich area culminates in Mark Duffy sliding Jack O'Connell in behind and he cuts back for Scott Hogan to tuck in at the near post.

Chris Everett: I imagine there’s a lot of Norwich fans out there supporting Ipswich right now - and I can safely say I’m one of them. Let’s wrap up promotion and the title in one go, shall we?

Norwich play Blackburn at 19:30 BST (stay here for live text coverage). A point will send Norwich up, while bettering Sheffield United's result will confirm them as champions.

Not much action in the last few minutes.

The Blades made a great start the game but Ipswich have settled into it.

First shot of the day from the visitors.

A nice bit of passing sees it open up for Flynn Downes but he drags his effort well wide from about 22 yards out.

The hosts weren't quick to close him down it has to be said.

  9. 'We need a complete revamp'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 27 April 2019

FT: Northampton 2-2 Yeovil - Yeovil relegated from League Two

Yeovil Town caretaker manager Neale Marmon was obviously downbeat when he spoke to BBC Radio Bristol following the Glovers relegation from League Two earlier today.

"We’re a very, very young team, who were not used to being down at the bottom," he said. "(We were) losing a lot of games on the bounce, picking up a few points then back into the same sort of rot. We never really picked up any confidence at all.

"(We need) a complete revamp. We’ll have a sit down, clear our heads and think about the situation.

"The group itself is not a bad set of lads. It really looked like three points at half-time and we nearly nicked it at the end."

David McGoldrick tries to cut the ball back for Sheffield United strike partner Scott Hogan when maybe he ought to have gone for goal himself after cutting in from the left.

The visitors scramble it away for a corner before clearing their lines.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 7 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Ipswich

Ipswich are forced into a very early change as Will Keane goes off with a hamstring injury and is replaced by Trevoh Chalobah.

Keane looked to pick up the injury in an innocuous looking clash with Chris Basham on the halfway line.

Meh: Nerves? Absolutely shredded. It should be easy, it should be a win but all Blades know we don’t do it that way.

These guys seemed calm enough on the way into Bramall Lane - the Blades are well on top but, if it remains goalless for a while longer, maybe those smiles will change to something a bit more pensive...

Sheffield United are ALL OVER Ipswich here.

This time Mark Duffy sends in a low cross that misses everyone.

An early goal would do a lot to settle any home nerves.

    The Blades should lead!

Chris Basham sends in a beauty of a cross from the right but David McGoldrick elects to go for it with his foot rather than his head and he can't quite connect.

If we've learned anything in the Championship this season it's not to make any assumptions.

Eight days ago Leeds United hosted struggling Wigan, with one away win all season, looking for a win to go three points clear of Sheffield United in third place.

The Whites slumped to a 2-1 defeat by the 10-man Latics and then followed that up with another loss at Brentford, after the Blades had beaten Hull City 3-0.

All that means that victory for Chris Wilder's side over already-relegated Ipswich will give them a six-point lead over their Yorkshire rivals, who still have two games to play.

In reality, the Bramall Lane side's goal difference is so superior that a win today will mean they will be playing Premier League football next season.

Blades fans, how are the nerves?

  18. Extra attention means nothing - Wilderpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 April 2019

Sheff Utd v Ipswich (17:15 BST)

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says nobody at the club is getting caught up in the extra attention on them this week.

A win for the Blades today will all-but secure promotion to the Premier League thanks to their superior goal difference over Leeds United.

"We have a job to look after on Saturday. Of course there will be added attention this week but it means nothing to me and it means nothing to the players," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We have a difficult game on Saturday and we all have to play our part. The players have got to produce another big performance and we need the supporters to bring their best.

"We know what is at stake and we know the numbers, we're not daft, but we all know we have to win a game of football."
