From rank outsiders for promotion and the manager's job being called into question to the brink of the Premier League.

Few predicted it back in August but here we are, on 27 April, and Norwich City know one more point will be enough to secure their place in the top flight next season.

Can they get over the line at Carrow Road or will Blackburn Rovers adopt the role of party poopers?

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder tells Sky Sports: "We've taken a huge, huge step. The boys have been magnificent. We've answered any questions.

"We've taken a huge step to being where we want to be. We're honest, hardworking, competitive and together. Most of these boys played in League One.

"We've had tough times here as a football club and this is a huge day for all of us. We went for the jugular to get the second goal and we just gave it everything."

Sheffield United will be playing in the Premier League next season!

The Blades cruised to a 2-0 win over bottom side Ipswich thanks to goals from Scott Hogan and Jack O'Connell.

Mathematically Leeds can still catch them, but in reality, they've done it.

We're into two minutes of stoppage time now.

The Blades have a free-kick in the Town half and very little inclination to hurry up taking it.

Ha, and just as I say nobody's after a goal Alan Judge has a shot from about 30 yards out that Blades keeper Dean Henderson has to tip over the bar.

The game is slowly winding down now with neither team really pushing for a goal.

A Leeds win against Aston Villa tomorrow will mean that mathematically the fight for promotion will go to the final day but, as we've said earlier, the goal difference means that it would leave Leeds needing the miracle of all miracles.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 85 mins

Another home sub, another standing ovation.

Mark Duffy makes way for John Lundstram as the Blades look to close out the final five minutes.

    Sheff Utd 2-0 Ipswich

A Sheffield United attack breaks down after a misunderstanding between Mark Duffy and Billy Sharp.

Even now, with the game won to leave promotion a formality, the duo still exchange some words over whose fault it was. The Blades have been relentless today, as they have been all season.

  16. 'We’ve got to win again next Saturday'published at 18:54 British Summer Time 27 April 2019

    FT: AFC Wimbledon 2-1 Wycombe

AFC Wimbledon are now just one win away from safety in League One following their victory over Wycombe. That's made all the remarkable considering they were rock bottom and nine points from safety in March.

Manager Wally Downes said: “We’ve worked hard to get ourselves in a position to do something. The hard bit was getting back into the pack.

“With four games to go, I thought we needed one draw and two wins. We’ve got to go again. We’ve got to win again (next) Saturday.

“The draw against Luton gave the fans a belief. I said the boys going into the Luton game that if you look at our last eight games, there was going to be one point’s difference."

Jack O'Connell thunders a header in from John Fleck's corner and that will surely mean that Sheffield United will be playing Premier League football next season.

O'Connell only moved into the area at the last minute and nobody picked him up.
