    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Saints have a corner as a Ryan Bertrand shot is deflected out of play.

The ball finds Nathan Redmond, he goes for the volley but Michail Antonio's knee sends the ball out for another corner. The second one comes to nothing.

Redmond has definitely made a difference and we're only five minutes into the second half.

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Ralph Hasenhuttl's definitely had a word with his Saints team. They are dominating the start of this half - a lot more oomph about them.

A warm applause for Jack Wilshere as he stretches his legs pitchside. Will he get a run around today?

  3. Postpublished at 46 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Nathan Redmond almost gets the second half off to the perfect start!

The ball is chipped over to him, he brings it down but his resulting shot is blocked.

Now that would have been an impact substitution.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 46 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

A Southampton change for the second half. Nathan Redmond is on, Danny Ings is off.

    Second half is under way.

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

The West Ham players are slowly emerging from the tunnel for the second half.

Marko Arnautovic looks very relaxed. All smiles, although you would be too if you'd ended a goal drought.

  6. Keep going Franny!published at 15:52 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

I simply have to give a massive half-time shout out to former Saints defender Franny Benali.

This week, he's attempted to complete SEVEN Ironmans in SEVEN days all in the name of charity. Unfortunately, he had to be pulled out of yesterday's and today's Ironmans on medical grounds, but fingers crossed he's well enough to complete the final one tomorrow.

Regardless, it's a phenomenal achievement and I tip my hat to him.

I spoke to him before the challenge and here's what he had to say.

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

That half largely belonged to West Ham, and the stats from our friends at Opta back it up.

If Southampton want to get something from this game then they're going to have to step it up a gear.

And with that, the whistle for half-time goes.

More goals in the second half, please.

  9. Postpublished at 45 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Play has slowed down in the last couple of minutes - West Ham look content to go into the break with that one-goal lead while Southampton aren't putting that much pressure on and seem happy just to knock the ball about.

Not the tempo Ralph Hasenhuttl will be looking for.

With that, West Ham get a chance as Arthur Masuaku goes on to a mazy run into the box, but the Saints clear his cross. Two further chances follow but they JUST manage to clear their lines at the vital moment.

The rain is starting to fall in east London. Happy to report no snow, though.

Always a good thing in May.

  11. Postpublished at 40 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

A decent spell for Southampton, they're causing one or two issues for West Ham at the back but just aren't finding that final pass.

Fabian Balbuena is in a little bit of pain. Looks like the ball hit him where no man wants the ball to hit.

  12. Postpublished at 36 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

A sweet one-two between Southampton's Mohamed Elyounoussi and Stuart Armstong in the middle of the park.

The ball is fed out to Yan Valery out on the right wing, and he goes to put in a cross - or was it a shot? Either way, it wasn't great, and the ball flies out of play.

Ralph Hasenhuttl looks confused on the bench. Me too, Ralph, me too.

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Arthur Masuaku wants a goal. But he won't get one with wayward shots like that.

He dribbles the ball towards the Saints box, and goes for glory, but it flies high over the bar. A wasted opportunity when there were better options.

  14. Postpublished at 29 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Michail Antonio is the next West Ham player to have a go at goal.

He receives the ball just outside the box, manages to hold off three defenders to get his shot away, but it's comfortable for Fraser Forster to gather.

  15. Postpublished at 27 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

At the other end, Southampton got a free-kick after Pedro Obiang clattered Stuart Armstrong out on the touchline but it came to nothing.

In a second move, Mohamed Elyounoussi picks the ball up on the edge of the West Ham area and cleverly feeds it in towards the on-running Jack Stephens, but Lukasz Fabianski gets there first.

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Marko Arnautovic could have had a second just then but he lets the ball trickle away from him.

It's Fabian Balbuena with the pass, and some pass it was too from West Ham's box. Arnautovic picks it up and runs towards the box but can't get the shot away under pressure from two Southampton defenders.

It's all West Ham at the moment.

  17. Postpublished at 22 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Arthur Masuaku does well down the left side. He takes it past two defenders when quite frankly, he shouldn't have been able to, and finds Manuel Lanzini who unleashes a decent effort from outside the box.

All Fraser Forster can do is punch it away and hope for the best. Luckily for him, Southampton clear.

  18. Postpublished at 19 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Michail Antonio has just received a bang to what looks like his jaw after going up for the ball with two Southampton defenders. The meat in a Saints sandwich.

He's ok to carry on though.

    West Ham 1-0 Southampton

Fun fact - West Ham skipper Mark Noble has scored more goals against Southampton than any other team during his career.

He's already provided the assist for Marko Arnautovic, can he add a goal?

    The Hammers break the deadlock.

It's Marko Arnautovic's first goal since January, and it's a clinical finish.

His captain Mark Noble plays a delightful through ball to the Austrian, and he places it perfectly past Fraser Forster.
