    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

West Ham switched off at the back and allowed Mohamed Elyounoussi in on goal.

A slick ball over the defence falls to the Southampton number 11, he controls it beautifully to bring it onto his right foot, but unfortunately, his subsequent shot wasn't quite so beautiful, going well wide of Fabianski's goal.

  2. Leaving early?published at 15:13 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

I've heard a little rumour that some West Ham fans will be leaving today's game early in order to leg it over to Wembley to support the Hammers in the Women's FA Cup Final.

They play Manchester City at 17:30 BST, and it's live on BBC One.

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

It's a chance for Grady Diangana again. He plays the ball to Marko Arnautovic, who feeds it back in a nice one-two, but Diangana's effort on goal is deflected over.

  4. Postpublished at 8 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

West Ham starting to get back into this one though, but they won't get very far with shots like the one Grady Diangana just unleashed.

He picks the ball up in the middle of the Saints half and goes for goal from way, way out. No problem at all for Fraser Forster.

  5. Postpublished at 6 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

Early chance for the Saints and for Stuart Armstrong.

Danny Ings, on the edge of the box, plays a neat ball through to Armstrong as he sprints into the area, but his shot drifts just high of Lukasz Fabianski's goal.

  6. Postpublished at 4 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Southampton

It's Southampton piling on the early pressure so far and captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has demonstrated his side's intent earlier on, clattering into Pedro Obiang as both jumped for a header.

  11. 'West Ham aim for top half, Saints safe'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

    Match of the Day commentator

Manuel Pellegrini has called this a transition season for West Ham, but it's still one in which they can finish in the top half of the table - something they haven't managed in either of the last two campaigns.

One of the major frustrations for Pellegrini will be that the Hammers have shown they can perform against the big guns, but have been hit and miss when facing teams lower down the table.

Southampton arrive fresh from securing Premier League safety after an impressive haul of 29 points from 21 games since Ralph Hasenhuttl took over.

It's not just results that have picked up under Hasenhuttl either, with the Saints good to watch as well. Their fans can be optimistic about next season.

West Ham's Declan Rice and Felipe Anderson both miss today's game through illness.

    Robert Snodgrass is suspended.
