It has not been a great few weeks for David de Gea and he has not exactly had a lot to do today.

However, that effort from Karlan Grant needed saving and the Manchester United keeper did just that with a solid feet-first stop.

Not the best save De Gea has ever made but in the context of his season, a very important one.

Paul Cunningham: Jones will always be a liability and has no place at all in a Manchester United team

Robin: Oh dear me Phil Jones

Josh Earl: A one goal lead with Phil Jones at the back is not a lead at all. Always looks like he's going to gift the other team a goal, penalty or get sent off.

Unlucky! This game is more end to end now and Paul Pogba almost has a second for United. It's a cracking header, flicked goalward with real power and it cannons away off the top of the bar.

That was the old David de Gea, a great save with his feet!

He's the best in the division at that, saving with his feet.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 40 mins

    Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United

Good save David de Gea! Needs to be too as Huddersfield, pressing hard, put youngster Karlan Grant in on goal. It's a one-on-one and the striker can only rattle a shot against the shins of De Gea.

  7. 'Sanchez putting a shift in'published at 14:39 British Summer Time 5 May 2019

    Huddersfield 0-1 Man Utd

Huddersfield have just enjoyed their best spell of the game and they are just too patient.

They need to put a few balls into the box and see what they can do.

    Manchester United are in control.

Alexis Sanchez is putting a shift in, which is good to see.

Good play again from Alex Pritchard, wriggling his way into the penalty area and putting in a low cross which Isaac Mbenza can't turn home. Huddersfield having a good spell now!

Great play again from Juan Mata. spinning away from a defender and flicking a pass into the path of Marcus Rashford all in one movement. The England man is again kept out by alert goalkeeping from Jonas Lossl. Just a shame about the goal.

Having to offer players like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones extended contracts shows what a problem United face.

Every manager that has followed Sir Alex Ferguson has been looking at centre halves.

And I don't think they've solved the problem.

Lovely from Eden Hazard as he runs at the Watford defence and then slides a pass right to Pedro. He has men in the middle but elects to go for a chip for the far corner and overdoes it. Good effort though.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shouts instructionsImage source, Rex Features

Paul Pogba has just been called over to the touchline for some instruction from both Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his assistant Mike Phelan.

Solskjaer was quite expressive. The implication seemed to be that he wanted more conviction about Pogba's threat on the Huddersfield goal.

Opinion about Pogba amongst the United support is very much split.

Some think Solskjaer should build his team around the Frenchman, others think United should sell.

I was effusive in my praise of Ruben Loftus-Cheek on Thursday night and he's running the show at times again in that Chelsea midfield. Play him every game! He's got every club in the bag.

Manchester United are getting into the final third very, very easily but they are over-complicating it a little, with back-heels and flicks.

Juan Mata should certainly have made it 2-0.

A rare incisive Huddersfield attack this season as Alex Pritchard feeds a good ball through. United clear the cross but Paul Pogba then gives away a free-kick in a dangerous spot.

Paul Pogba almost meets a cross at the far post but he can't quite stretch enough to reach it. He's not doing anything noticeably poor in my opinion. I haven't got Alan Green's dancing glasses on though.

John Smith: When Sanchez has played this season he has often been out of touch literally cause his team mates rarely give him the ball, or do so with a bad pass, when they have no other option. He was more effective at Arsenal cause he was much more involved in team play.

Robert Simon: I see no reason not to give it a go and score 4 or 5 in games like this. United need to be ruthless in front of goal in games like this, just in case top 4 comes down to goal difference

Robin Peckitt:Young struggling to put in a cross from a set piece, never mind open play.
