    HT: Rangers 1-0 Hibernian

Steven Davis is looking better with every game for Rangers after a slow start to his second spell at the club. Signing the Northern Ireland midfielder on for next season is shrewd business from Steven Gerrard.

  3. Can Hibs find a way back?published at 16:26 British Summer Time 5 May 2019

    HT: Rangers 1-0 Hibernian

Hibs will know they have come from behind to draw with Rangers twice this season but it will need a major improvement to get anything from this game. Home goalkeeper Allan McGregor has had nothing to do at all.

The stats say it's 10-1 to Rangers for shots. I can't remember the effort from the visitors.

Hibs haven't really offered anything in this first half. They've not had many opportunities at all. They've played a lot of long balls to McNulty, who is isolated up there himself. It's easy for Rangers to pick up possession and go on the attack again.

  5. HALF-TIME Rangers 1-0 Hibernianpublished at 45 mins

The home side have dominated much of the game and take a deserved lead into the break after Jermain Defoe's goal, with the striker having missed a couple of decent chances earlier.

Scott Arfield also went close very early on.

Hibs have been a bit sluggish and haven't threatened at all.

The goal is all about Steven Davis. He wins the first one and the ball gets played up. He steals it at the head and continues his run. Then he's got the composure to lift his head and he picks out Defoe really well.

    Jermain Defoe

It's an eighth goal of the season for Jermain Defoe as Hibs are caught short at the back. A lovely dink over the top from Ryan Jack sends Steven Davis scampering forward and his square pass is tucked away by the striker, with left-back Lewis Stevenson the only defender trying to cover on the slide.

    Where were the centre-halves?

    Rangers 0-0 Hibernian

Stevie Mallan is booked for a lazy clip at the heels of Ryan Kent. Steven Davis is over the free kick 35 yards out. He clips it towards Nikola Katic who is stealing in round the back but the defender can't reach it on the stretch.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 38 mins

    Rangers 0-0 Hibernian

Ryan Jack rifles a shot through a cluster of players and Ofir Marciano gets down smartly to keep it out. The loose ball falls to Jermain Defoe but the Rangers striker can only scuff at it back to Marciano right in front of goal.

It's all a bit scruffy right now, with the midfield very congested. Hibs stiker Marc McNulty is very isolated up front now, with Ryan Gauld dropping much deeper.

Or maybe some tasty Colombian tacos. Alfredo Morelos looks pretty pleased with himself on the Rangers bench.

Will we see the striker after the break?

That might be a first touch for Hibs striker Marc McNulty and it's not a very good one as he surrenders possession from a David Gray throw-in.

    Rangers 0-0 Hibernian

Ryan Kent dips a shoulder and cuts inside on to his right foot 20 yards out but his shot is weak and Ofir Marciano has no trouble scooping it up.

That's three set plays that Rangers have had and they've all been very dangerous. If your Hibs now I'm thinking your wanting to stop the ball getting into the box or stop committing fouls in the first place. They're giving away cheap fouls in wide areas

  16. Postpublished at 22 mins

Rangers winger Ryan Kent pings a corner into the mixer and Hibs are able to nod clear, with Ryan Gauld completing the clearance with a calm touch inside his own box.

Great chance for Rangers there. That all started with a brilliant ball from McGregor to Tavernier, who sets him up and Defoe ends up through in goal. He should have done better with the shot

Jermain Defoe gets between the two Hibs central defenders but pulls an angled shot wide from a few steps inside the penalty area.

Both sides are going a bit more direct now, with a series of long balls. I'm not sure that such a good idea with strapping centre-halves at either end of the park.

Scott Arfield has a pop from distance but the shot is always rising.

A nice spell of possession from Hibs in their day-glo yellow kit. However, Rangers hold firm without too much fuss.
