Now West Brom have a big shout for a penalty, as Tammy Abraham makes a clumsy challenge in the Villa area, but the officials say play on.

Just to go back a moment, in the build-up to that penalty, West Brom's Kieran Gibbs was booked for a foul on Andre Green down Villa's right.

And it was from that free-kick that Villa worked the ball to Jack Grealish, who was then fouled by Gibbs.

Not a good couple of minutes for Gibbs, although at least - from a West Brom point of view - there weren't too many calls for an immediate second yellow for the penalty.

Gibbs had only been booked a minute or so earlier following a foul on Andre Green and a disagreement with some Villa players afterwards.

Villa are still on top but there's more than a whiff of a second West Brom goal, every time they counter attack.

Chris Brunt sends a deep corner all the way to Kyle Bartley at the back post, but the Baggies defender heads across the face of goal and Villa escape.

Dwight Gayle goes down clutching his face after a little clash with Conor Hourihane, but Villa are allowed to play on.

It was, I understand, a close call as to whether Glenn Whelan or Conor Hourihane got the nod in central midfield today.

Now, after the part Whelan played in Albion's goal, Hourihane is on to replace him. Can he do something to dig Villa out of their self-induced hole?

Andre Green is on too - he's already come off the bench to find the net here this season, having been one of the scorers in that dramatic late comeback against Sheffield United in February.

Now Villa make a double change, as Conor Hourihane and Andre Green come on for Glenn Whelan and Albert Adomah.

It was the experienced Whelan's first-half error that led to Dwight Gayle's opening goal.
