West Brom have won 'on the night' - in 90 minutes - thanks to Craig Dawson's first-half header.

The hosts have been the better side but had Chris Brunt sent off with 10 minutes to go, handing the initiative to a Villa side who'll have the extra man in this additional 30 minutes.

Into the last 60 seconds of normal time and Villa aren't pumping it forward.

They get it wide to Jack Grealish but West Brom scramble clear.

They bring the big boys forward and will launch this into the Villa box...

Oh no, Mason Holgate woefully overhits the cross out for a goal kick.

John McGinn gets his head to a Anwar El Ghazi cross but Ahmed Hegazi gets it behind for a Villa corner.

It comes out to Conor Hourihane outside the box but he can't connect with either of his two efforts, and there's to be no repeat of his first-leg strike.

We're into FIVE minutes of added time and it's all a bit stretched.

While there's only a minute plus stoppage time remaining, Villa must remember they have the safety net of extra-time against the 10 men of West Brom.

The ball bobbles around the Baggies box and Albert Adomah lashes one with his left foot, only to see Johnstone get a strong hand to it.

From a resulting corner the keeper saves again from a long-range John McGinn effort.

Fans at The Hawthorns continue to get right behind their side - I think they realise the West Brom players will need all the encouragement they can get now.

Villa are patiently probing and win a corner after Kyle Bartley heads behind.

The Baggies now look content to hold onto what they have for extra-time.
