  6. Croatia at the double... again - the statspublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Croatia 2-1 Wales

    • Wales have failed to win all five of their international matches versus Croatia (D1 L4), losing each of the last four in succession and conceding exactly twice in each of those defeats.
    • Croatia have won their last four home matches in all competitions since drawing 0-0 with England in the UEFA Nations League in October 2018.
    • Wales have now lost four of their last five away matches across all competitions (W1), as many as they had lost in their previous 14 such games (W5 D5 L4).
    • Jamie Lawrence is the first player to score an own goal for Wales since Ashley Williams did so against Iceland in March 2014, 5 years and 95 days ago.
    • Since the start of 2018, Ivan Perisic has scored more goals for Croatia (6) than any other player; today’s was his first goal for his country in seven matches since he last found the net against Portugal in September 2018.
    • David Brooks' strike was his first goal for Wales in what was his 11th appearance for the national side; he is the first player to score as a substitute for Wales since Ben Woodburn against Austria in September 2017.

O'Neill says his players could not be any better prepared for their qualifier against Estonia.

O'Neill's men go into the match in Tallinn after taking part in two training camps in Manchester and further fitness work in Austria.

Northern Ireland are top of Group C after beating the Estonians and Belarus in Belfast in March.

"Our preparations have been as good as they could have been," said O'Neill. "The players are in good shape, both mentally and physically, and I'm confident we can produce the performance we need to win the game.

"We had players who finished their seasons at different times, so we were drip-feeding players into the squad, making it vital that we maintained their fitness."

Estonia v Northern Ireland (17:00 BST)

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill names three changes to the side who were victorious over Belarus in their last Euro 2020 qualifier in March.

Gavin Whyte, Michael Smith and Liam Boyce all come into the starting XI as Niall McGinn, Jordan Jones and Kyle Lafferty drop out.

One notable absence from the NI squad is Niall McGinn, the Aberdeen winger is recovering from ankle surgery and therefore misses out.

Josh Magennis, who scored a late winner in that win over Belarus, is named on the bench.

Northern Ireland XI:Peacock-Farrell; Smith, Evans, Cathcart, Lewis; Saville, Davis, McNair; Whyte, Dallas, Boyce.

Subs: McLaughlin, McAuley, Lafferty, Ferguson, McGovern, Evans, Jones, Washington, Flanagan, Magennis, Thompson, Hazard.

Estonia XI: Lepmets; Sinyavskiy, Mets, Vihmann, Pikk; Dmitrijev; Teniste, Vassiljev, Kait, Sappinen; Zenjov.

Subs: Aksalu, Kames, Miller, Puri, Sorga, Ojamaa, Kreida, Tamm, Roosnupp, Kallaste, Kuusk, Meerits.

  10. Group E standingspublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

Croatia are top of Group E with six points from three games. Wales, who have played a game less, are third but shouldn't be too disheartened with that performance. Aside from the disastrous five minute spell straight after half time they put in a decent display.

    Croatia 2-1 Wales

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was too little, too late for Wales. They had a go at 2-0 down. They did improve and could have nicked something. But I'm not sure it would have been deserved.

Croatia seemed to step off the gas thinking the game was done and dusted. I'm not sure Wales believed they could win the game, and they haven't. They weren't positive enough.

It's been a good effort considering the heat and the quality of the opposition.

We just didn't have enough quality in front of goal in the vital moments.

And another chance! A big one for Wales as Gareth Bale finds David Brooks, who has a clear sight of goal but his shot on the stretch trickles towards the far corner where Dominik Lovakovic dives to smother.

I don't know why we didn't see this from Wales earlier. Why did it take them until they were 2-0 down to play like this?
