    Croatia 2-0 Wales

A brilliant ball from Joe Allen send Gareth Bale away. The forward has sight of goal but puts his shot too close to Dominik Livakovic. Harry Wilson was to his left screaming for ball, was the pass the better option?

Gareth Bale steps up to take the free-kick but fires just over to a chorus of ironic cheers.

    Croatia 2-0 Wales

A chance for Wales to get back into this now as Dejan Lovren is adjudged to have fouled Gareth Bale. Bit harsh but the visitors have a free-kick just outside the box...

    Croatia 2-0 Wales

    Kevin Ratcliffe
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

I can't believe how easy Wales are making it for Croatia.

That goal is an absolute gift, they gave the ball away and were punished.

  5. 'Disastrous start'published at 15:11 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Croatia 2-0 Wales

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wales looked ready as they came out for the second half but have started poorly.

They don't clear their lines. The ball gets played in behind and they can't clear it. Conoor Roberts gets bullied off the ball by Ivan Perisic, who fires in from a tight angle.

Disastrous start, Wales haven't come out.

GOAL - Croatia 2-0 Walespublished at 49 mins

    Ivan Perisic

    But no escape this time..

The Wales defence is all at sea and a loose ball eventually falls to Ivan Perisic, who smashes a low effort beyond Wayne Hennessey.

    Croatia are in control.

Ben Davies didn't look like he was moving well there, we know he has a hernia problem. Wayne Hennessey saves well with his feet.

I wonder what the offside was for.

  8. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

    Big escape for Wales...

Wayne Hennessey does well to deny Josip Brekalo's shot with his foot but can do nothing when Andrej Kramaric's shot from distance flies past the Wales shotstopper. However, the whistle's gone for an apparent offside.

SeRo13: Beginning to feel sorry for Conor Roberts. Cannot cope with Perisic for love or money

Robert Watts: Dan James has had hardly a touch , looks a championship player

I would argue that he has provided the one real moment of quality for Wales with his run and cross for Will Vaulks' chance. That aside, though, he hasn't had much opportunity to show what he can do.

  11. Wasting Balepublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

    Kevin Ratcliffe
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

Bale is being wasted on the right hand side, he is really quiet, he barely touched the ball in the first 15 minutes and Croatia will be delighted.

He also isn't helping his right back. It is difficult if you are Connor Roberts to shout at Gareth Bale, but he is going to have to.

Croatia are a class act, when we get a chance we need to take it.

  12. 'Not good enough from Wales'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Croatia have dominated possession with lots of time on the ball. Ivan Perisic has been a menace on the left side. It's only in the last five minutes that Wales have come back into the game. Wales are going to have to raise their game in the second half, it's not been good enough from them.

Possession aside, the stats make for decent reading for Wales. They have had more shots than their hosts who, for all their possession, haven't actually had an effort on target.

As it is, James Lawrence's unfortunate own goal is the difference at the break.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

There goes the whistle for half time, but a good finish to the half will give Wales hope of still getting something from this game.

Wales finishing the half strongly as they win a corner but the delivery is poor and Dominik Livakovic leaps above the crowd to gather.

Wales' best move of the game. Dan James has struggled to get in behind but he does here. It's a good delivery and it's a good save. It bounces back into the goalkeeper's hands, he got lucky.

  17. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

What a chance for Wales! It really should be 1-1.

Dan James gets the chance to show his pace for the first time in this game as he chases a long crossfield ball from the back. The winger controls and then sends a cross to the far post for Harry Wilson. He then finds Will Vaulks but the midfielder's first time shot is straight at the keeper. Great move but poor finish.

  18. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

Croatia are having so much joy down the left side of the pitch, catching Wales short of numbers there time and again. Now Ivan Perisic finds himself in space but this time his ball across the face of goal is to no-one and Wales survive.

There's one other Euro 2020 qualifier on at the moment. Burnley's Johann Berg Gudmundsson has given Iceland a 1-0 lead against Albania in France's Group H.

  20. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

Once again, the breakdown of a Wales attack leads to them getting caught exposed on the counter. Andrej Kramaric cuts inside Chris Mepham but then bends his shot just over the bar.
