If you thought Daniel James was quick, wait until you see his replacement Rabbi Matondo.

The Schalke winger was the fastest player when he was at Manchester City, with speed tests putting him ahead of the likes of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling.

You'll do well to find a substitution involving two quicker players.

Still, they have to be wary of getting caught out by committing players forward. Ivan Perisic finds a bit of space in the Wales defence but puts his shot well over.

Chris Mepham heads straight at the Croatia keeper from a corner. A late flourish from Wales, who are clearly boosted by that David Brooks goal.

It's come from nothing. It looked like the game was petering out. It's good play by Connor Roberts, who cuts the ball back. It looks like David Brooks is going to shoot on his favoured left foot but he cuts back onto his right.

It's given Wales a lifeline. Maybe Croatia thought they were done and dusted.

Fresh legs for Croatia as Milan Badelj comes into midfield, replacing Mateo Kovacic.

Gareth Bale wasn't fully committed going into the challenge. He came out with the ball but it was just a pot shot.

Good work from Gareth Bale to win the ball just outside the Croatia box. He knocks the ball onto his left before cracking off a shot at goal but the ball is pushed behind by Dominik Livakovic.

Both sets of players are starting to look a little leggy now with hopeful balls forward failing to find willing runners.

Sulaimon Adelekan: Croatia's quality is coming to the fore here. Ivan Perisic is such a quality player, should have moved from Inter after the World Cup he had but he definitely doesn't have age on his side.

Dan James bursts forward to keep the ball alive but he is hacked down Domagoj Vida, earning the Croat a yellow card and Wales a free-kick right by the dugout.

That prompts cooling break number two.

There's also a change for Croatia as midfielder Mario Pasalic replaces Josip Brekalo.

A double change for Wales as Matt Smith is replaced by David Brooks and Ethan Ampadu is on for Wil Vaulks. A positive change from Ryan Giggs as he looks to freshen things up.

Wales have been their own worst enemies at times with some abysmal defending - but they're not without hope.

Gareth Bale is growing into the game, with space on offer behind Croatia's defence when the hosts push up in search of a third goal.

Unless Wales get a goal back soon, however, that faint hope will fade fast.

Ivan Perisic once again gets the better of Connor Roberts, who is going to be having nightmares about the the Inter Milan midfielder given how much he has terrorised him in this game, however there's no-one in the box to meet Perisic's cross.
