Dundee United always want to kick down the slope in the second half. And teams don't realise that. It's like a habit for them now. Or possibly they always win the toss!

I'm a bit surprised the way St Mirren have approached this game. There was no real thrust to say 'we're the Premiership side' and we're coming here to take your scalp because we want to stay in the division. It's been pretty tame

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 46mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

St Mirren start the second half on fire. Lee Hodson's back header at the back post and Kyle Magennis' toe poke from only eight yards out forces a brilliant palm clear from goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

  4. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:48 British Summer Time 23 May 2019

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

We are a third of the way through this Premiership Play-off final and St Mirren get the second half of the first leg under way.

United like to shoot down the slope in the second half. Can they make it count?

Up until the last 10 minutes, United looked like the ones to get the opener. Slowly but surely, St Mirren started to get a wee bit higher up. The two central midfielders started to gain territory and their wide players were coming in off the touchline - that's where they'll get there joy

  9. HALF-TIME Dundee United 0-0 St Mirrenpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 23 May 2019

It's been the tight affair we expected. Plenty of enthusiasm, but it's not been a thing of beauty.

Paul McMullan has been the home side's brightest spark and the winger came closest to sending the Tangerine section of the packed stands into raptures with a low shot that was saved by the outstretched foot of goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky.

St Mirren have been stuffy and gradually worked their way into the game, with their main creative force, Kyle McAllister bursting into action late on to force a fine save from Benjamin Siegrist.

Rachid Bouhenna's free-kick is on target, but it's easy for goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

St Mirren full-back Paul McGinn earns a booking for pulling down Nicky Clark.

A minute of stoppage time to come.

I'm bumming him up now, but McAllister reminds me of Xherdan Shaqiri - that little barrel figure, bombing in just trying to manufacture the angle and he gets it on to that sweet left foot. But what a save from Siegrist

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 40mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

    It's end-to-end stuff.

Mihai Popescu had to produce an excellently athletic clearance to prevent an Osman Sow cross reaching United striker partner Nicky Clark.

St Mirren burst clear and Kyle McAllister cuts inside before curling a drive that is heading towards the top corner before goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist claws it clear.

  14. Postpublished at 38mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

Kyle McAllister is a big player for St Mirren, by the on-loan Derby County man has been quiet until now.

He gathers the ball just inside the United half and powers forward, but his low drive is across the face of goal and well wide.

There are little sparkles of good play and then it breaks down. But United look like they carry so much more threat

  17. Postpublished at 32mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

Paul McMullan bamboozles Mihai Popescu with some slick footwork.

But the tricky winger, who seems to have the goal at his mercy, spoils it by sending a low drive across the face of goal and wide.

  18. Postpublished at 31mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

The ball is bobbling about the St Mirren penalty box.

But no United player is able to get the ball under control to get a shot on goal.

St Mirren need to do more in the attacking third. So far, they've done absolutely nothing. They look a little bit sluggish to me

  20. Postpublished at 27mins

    Dundee United 0-0 St Mirren

The Championship side are certainly looking the better side, with more quality, than their Premiership opponents so far.
