    Up until the last 10 minutes, United looked like the ones to get the opener. Slowly but surely, St Mirren started to get a wee bit higher up. The two central midfielders started to gain territory and their wide players were coming in off the touchline - that's where they'll get there joy

    It's been the tight affair we expected. Plenty of enthusiasm, but it's not been a thing of beauty.

    Paul McMullan has been the home side's brightest spark and the winger came closest to sending the Tangerine section of the packed stands into raptures with a low shot that was saved by the outstretched foot of goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky.

    St Mirren have been stuffy and gradually worked their way into the game, with their main creative force, Kyle McAllister bursting into action late on to force a fine save from Benjamin Siegrist.

    I'm bumming him up now, but McAllister reminds me of Xherdan Shaqiri - that little barrel figure, bombing in just trying to manufacture the angle and he gets it on to that sweet left foot. But what a save from Siegrist

    Mihai Popescu had to produce an excellently athletic clearance to prevent an Osman Sow cross reaching United striker partner Nicky Clark.

    St Mirren burst clear and Kyle McAllister cuts inside before curling a drive that is heading towards the top corner before goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist claws it clear.

    There are little sparkles of good play and then it breaks down. But United look like they carry so much more threat
