The Portuguese Pied Piper leading Switzerland in a merry dance this time. As the ball is pulled across to Ronaldo, he uses the pace of the ball to caress it past Yann Sommer.

A gorgeous cut-back from Bernardo Silva is perfectly executed 12 yards out.

The crowd in Porto spring from their seats. Scenes!

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 85 mins

    Portugal 1-1 Switzerland

Xherdan Shaqiri is good at scoring - not so good at tackling.

He completely misses the ball as he attempts a challenge on Goncalo Guedes - the Portuguese substitute landing in a heap.

Shaqiri shrugs and gives a look as if to say: 'I hardly touched you'.

A reminder there will be extra-time if the scores are level after 90 minutes...then, possibly, penalties.

This is great theatre and it's the correct decision. There was contact and it doesn't matter if it was accidental. This is why VAR is such a positive thing.

  20. goal

GOAL - Portugal 1-1 Switzerlandpublished at 56 mins

    Ricardo Rodríguez

No one can quite believe what has just happened.

Referee Felix Brych had awarded a penalty to Portugal when he went to check an incident which had happened a few moments earlier at the other end of the pitch.

Having spent ages checking the TV monitor on the side of the pitch, he then awards Switzerland a penalty for a foul by Nelson Semedo on Steven Zuber from which Ricardo Rodriguez scores.
