This set-piece comes to nothing after David Luiz - who has been the most influential player so far - trying to thread a through ball to a team-mate in the Burnley box.

Arsenal spring forward on the attack, winning a corner when Ainsley Maitland-Niles sticks on the burners to pop up on the right wing.

Burnley sense set-pieces might be where they can have some success.

Another right-wing corner is whipped into the Gunners's penalty area, Bernd Leno not instilling any confidence in his defence with another walkabout off his line.

The German can't take command of the situation as Ben Mee tries to turn the ball home. The scene resembles a rugby scrum, bodies everywhere trying to get hold of the ball, before David Luiz mops up.

Great save! Leno redeems himself somewhat, showing cat-like reactions to change direction and beat away Ashley Barnes' close-range header.

Ah, actually it doesn't matter. Barnes is flagged offside as he pounces on James Tarkowski's downward header from the corner. Leno didn't know, of course.

Michael Haimes: Arsenal's acquisition of Luiz could be the shrewdest business of the summer. He's won trophies everywhere he's gone, and he'll bring a much needed arrogance to that notoriously nervous back line.

Kyle: Brilliant striker's goal from Lacazette. Super strength and finish from him. Ceballos has been superb he is top drawer and going to be a big player for Arsenal this season.

There are three, four defenders around him. He should not be able to get that shot away. It’s great play by Lacazette, great positioning but really poor defending. Sean Dyche won’t be happy with that.

Moments later, a sharp header from Alexandre Lacazette forces Clarets keeper Nick Pope into a smart save.

Freddie Ljungberg is back at Arsenal. Although he looks like he's been hitting the weights - and the tattoo parlour - since we last saw him. The Gunners' new first-team assistant coach is watching on intently.

Arsenal go on the attack, for the first time really, Reiss Nelson whipping a shot towards the far right corner.

Not enough curl from the youngster and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

Those Gunners of a nervous disposition might not enjoy watching Arsenal's new signing, who miscontrols a pass in his own area and then whips the ball across the face of his goal to new partner Sokratis.

Early sighter for Burnley. Johann Berg Gudmundsson stretches his legs as he gets behind the Arsenal defence on the right, curling in towards Ashley Barnes but the ball goes over him.

Arsenal can't clear properly though, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and David Luiz both with weak headers, allowing Erik Pieters to scoop a volley wide.

I think David Luiz is a very good footballer, I don’t think he’s a good defender. As good as Arsenal undoubtedly are going forward, we’re still looking at them defensively.

I still think they’re missing a leader in defence. They’ve signed an awful lot of defenders over the years, but they’ve never really replaced the likes of Adams, Bould and Keown.
