It wouldn't have counted but this is a brilliant save. DR Congo striker Jonathan Bolingi gets a fantastic header onto a right-wing cross which Mohamed El Shenawy keeps out with a diving stop.

The referee has done them both a disservice by blowing his whistle. Bolingi didn't foul his marker.

DR Congo have actually been pretty decent. Just their final ball and finishing has let them down. That's been the difference, Egypt have taken chances.

Jacques Maghoma finds Cedric Bakambu and his weak shot from 20 yards is held by Mohamed El Shenawy.

DR Congo defender Issama Mpeko catches Trezequet late and the Egypt player is milking it to eat up time.

DR Congo sub Elia Meschak loves a long-range shot. His latest effort hits defender Ahmed Hegazi.

  5. Postpublished at 70 mins

DR Congo need something and quickly. Elia Meschak tries to provide it but shoots over from distance.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 69 mins

Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny is booked - and should probably have been sent off. It's a horrible two-footed tackle as he wraps his legs around the dribbling Yannick Bolasie. The Arsenal player has the cheek to moan about the booking too.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 68 mins

Egypt bring on veteran Walid Soliman for Abdallah el Said.

  8. Postpublished at 67 mins

It's almost a match-clincher from Ahmed Hassan Kouka. The ball breaks for him in the box but he blasts it wide of the near post.

  9. Postpublished at 66 mins

Woeful shot by Jonathan Bolingi. The ball drops for the DR Congo striker in a great position but he completely snatches at it and lashes it into the side-netting.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

DR Congo bring on Yannick Bolasie for Bokadi Bope.

Suspect Bolasie is the only man to play for Maltese side Floriana, non-league Hillingdon Borough, Everton, Anderlecht and at an Africa Cup of Nations.

  11. Postpublished at 63 mins

DR Congo's spell of intense pressure is over now, without finding that breakthrough. Trezeguet shoots over from distance now for Egypt.

The 1946 British Lions RL team became known by the nickname The Indomitables due to their travelling to Australia on-board the aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable. There were 11 Welshmen in the 26-man party, including Fred Hughes (father of Liverpool footballer, Emlyn). ↑ less

Incidentally I was named after Emlyn Hughes...

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

Egypt make a change up front. Ahmed Hassan Kouka, who spent last season on loan at Olympiakos from Braga, replaces Marwan Mohsen.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 59 mins

DR Congo's Ngonda Muzinga leaves a high studs-up boot on Abdallah El Said's thigh. A definite yellow card.

  15. Postpublished at 58 mins

DR Congo's best spell of the game probably. But they are struggling with end product. It's a lot of good passes and crosses that don't reach their target.

  16. Postpublished at 56 mins

Jacques Maghoma crosses to Cedric Bakambu, but he can't quite get control of it in the box. If DR Congo are going to come back into this, they could do with scoring soon.

  17. Postpublished at 55 mins

DR Congo striker Cedric Bakambu almost makes the most of bad defending but he shows too much of the ball to a defender and concedes a goal-kick.

  18. Postpublished at 53 mins

The ball bounces all over the place in the box, the DR Congo keeper tries to keep it in, but it's a corner to Egypt.

The corner is hit over everyone's head.

My old five-a-side team in the BBC Birmingham Super League was called Mr Congo. We weren't very good. Pretty sure we lost to BBC TV show Doctors.

Mohamed Salah has a free-kick but it's headed away. DR Congo break and win a free of their own.
