Florin Andone is a tempestuous player, but there is no defence for his first-half tackle on Yan Valery. Being ‘mis-timed’ won’t wash as an excuse. It was reckless and so high.

The word ‘leg-breaker’ was used on several occasions by journalists in the Amex press room at half-time. Thankfully, Valery has seemingly avoided serious injury.

Olamide: Lingard offers absolutely nothing but pressing and energy. Creativity is totally absent from his game. The decision not to get a creative midfielder is the worst decision we made this summer. Can't believe Solskjær let that happen.

Kevin Cahill: This game is crying for creativity rather than pace with Palace playing such a deep block.

Crystal Palace have deserved their lead and their game plan has worked very well and they could have got a second.

Manchester United have lacked creativity. I'd be looking at getting Juan Mata on in the second half.
