I was told by someone at Manchester United that they regarded Daniel James as something of a rough diamond.

His speed is obvious but he probably needs to take an extra half second to look up and decide what he is going to do with the ball.

It all looks a bit rushed by the Welshman.

Inter have a rare opportunity in front of goal as Esposito collects the ball at the back post, but his volley back across goal picks out Samuele Longo, who is offside.

An intriguing game. Raheem Sterling's missed penalty the best chance so far.

Nice build-up from Wolves. The cross comes in from the right by Adama Traore, who has really grown into this half.

Jonny chests it down, into the path of Joao Moutinho, who is waiting in the centre. He hits it on the half-volley but it's blasted way over the bar.

Adama Traore is sent chasing a long ball from Willy Boly. It causes all kinds of problems for Claudio Bravo, who seemed to flap at it before dangerously sliding in.

It eventually dribbles out for a goal kick...

Samir Handanovic is quick off his line to keep out Anthony Martial's effort from close range.

The winger is played in by Jesse Lingard but he cannot lift the ball over the towering Inter goalkeeper.

    Wolves 0-0 Man City

Leroy Sane manages to keep the ball in on the left following a lovely pass from Raheem Sterling.

The German's only option is to fire it into the centre but he can't get enough of an angle on it. Rui Patricio smartly blocks the cut-back.

    Man Utd 0-0 Inter Milan

Anthony Martial has been influential in the first half and he plays a neat one-two with Marcus Rashford.

Man Utd are in behind once again but the Englishman's ball across the area is cut out by a turquoise shirt.

Daniel James in the thick of things once more as he is played in by Nemanja Matic, but the youngster lashes at his shot and it sails over the bar.

That was a big chance but it was on his weaker right foot.

  10. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Man City

Kevin de Bruyne's diagonal ball finds Leroy Sane following a slip from Adama Traore. But the banana skin is still there as Sane then slips too!

He crouches to his knees and has a giggle when he stands up.

Antonio Conte will not be best pleased with this first half performance from his side.

They are sloppy in possession as Man Utd dteal possession and break at speed.

The ball is played wide to Daniel James but he ca't find a red shirt with his cross into the box.

The game has stopped for the players to take on some water.

A few - including Paul Pogba - have put towels over their heads.

This has been quite encouraging for Manchester United so far.

Could have done with a goal and might have created a chance or two but they have carried the greater threat.

    Wolves 0-0 Man City

Morgan Gibbs-White looks sharp again. He quickly turns in the middle and feeds it straight through to Adama Traore.

His acceleration is too hot to handle and Aymeric Laporte can only slide and concede a corner. The set-piece is then headed clear by John Stones.

Danilo makes a positive run through the middle and has a shot from long-range. He scuffs it and it falls kindly for Raheem Sterling in the box.

The England forward reacts and turns on it quickly but snaps at his shot. It ends up dribbling into Rui Patricio's arms.

    How has that stayed out?

Luke Shaw combines with Anthony Martial down the left before the former slides the ball across the face of goal.

Samir Handanovic gets the faintest of touches on the ball to divert it away from Marcus Rashford, who is denied a simple tap-in.

    Ah, lovely stuff.

Kevin de Bruyne feeds it into Raheem Sterling's feet. He quickly slips it left to Leroy Sane and the German drills a shot across goal.

It bounces wide of the right post. But again, de Bruyne's passing is absolutely destroying Wolves! No goal to show for it though.

Jesse Lingard joins the party as he turns and skips away from one tackle before Marcelo Brozivic takes matters into his own hands and brings him down.

The Inter midfielder goes into the book after a string of late challenges, but Marcus Rashford's free-kick goes straight into the wall.

    Wolves 0-0 Man City

Kevin de Bruyne has been excellent. He cuts in from the right, pushes it onto his left foot and tries a curler from the edge of the area.

This time it's well blocked and Wolves win a goal kick when it bounces off Adrian Bernabe.

    Wolves 0-0 Man City

Wolves win a free-kick on the left and Joao Moutinho's cross is headed on by Willy Boly. It doesn't quite fall for Morgan Gibbs-White.

A few moments later, Adama Traore darts into the box and goes down under apparent contact. There's appeals for a penalty but the referee waves them away after a few seconds of consideration.

From one end to the other.

This time Anthony Martial is in his more familiar position just outside the Inter half as he drills an effort at goal.

Samir Handanovic is equal to it, but these are promising signs from Martial, who is in the thick of things at both ends of the pitch.
