  2. What next for Wanderers?published at 19:13 British Summer Time 21 August 2019

Next up for Bolton is a game at home to Ipswich on Saturday.

Also, a protracted takeover by Football Ventures seems set to be completed soon.

That's after a High Court order blocking the takeover was adjourned last week.

The order issued by Laurence Bassini was also amended, with the injunction now between him and a company owned by ex-Bolton chairman Ken Anderson.

The case, which was adjourned until 2 September, relates to a failed bid by Bassini to buy the club from Anderson.

  3. Parkinson resignspublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 21 August 2019

Former Bolton midfielder Matt Taylor speaking on Sky Sports:

"It's really disappointing news, but let's not forget the people who are really affected by all this - it's the club staff and people there day-in, day-out who face uncertainty.

"I just hope they manage to secure a new buyer and a new backer to make sure Bolton can thrive in the future, as the town and the club deserve that."

    Phil Parkinson resigns as boss

Parkinson, 51, joined Bolton in the summer of 2016 and oversaw promotion from League One in his first season.

He kept the club up in 2017-18 but could not repeat the trick last season amid financial difficulties.

Wanderers have fielded teams largely made up of youth players so far this season, including their youngest-ever side in their draw against Coventry City.

They fielded just three senior outfield players in their last match, a 5-0 defeat at Tranmere on Saturday.

Yesterday's scheduled match against Doncaster Rovers was postponed amid welfare concerns for younger players.

In response to Parkinson's resignation, Bolton said in a statement that "the matter is being considered".
