Corin Wright: What is going on!? Another clear and obvious penalty not given by VAR! What is it for!!??

Tony Greaves: Did a bellyflop and tripped him up. Must be a pen.

Andrew Priestley: I’m no Spurs fan, but how is that not a penalty kick? Firstly, how does the referee not see that? Secondly, how does VAR not put him right? What a shambles.

  8. CLOSE!published at 18:09 British Summer Time 25 August 2019

Oh dear. This is NOT one to look back on.

Moussa Sissoko's cross from the right is put on a plate for Lucas Moura, who is completely unmarked in the box.

But the striker hoofs it way over the bar! It's a shocker.

    Tottenham 0-1 Newcastle

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

This looks like a penalty to me. They are taking a long time to make this decision. Wow it's not a penalty. I don't think you can get emotional about VAR anymore. The decisions are just so random at times. That's twice now looking at replays that I would have given them the penalties. I have no idea. I think that is a shocker from VAR.

Harry Kane has been poor in both halves. It was similar against Aston Villa but then he popped up and scored. However, I would like to see more from him, see him get deeper and have more of an influence on the game.

Giovani Lo Celso slips it through to Harry Kane in the box and Jamaal Lascelles seems to slip before bundling straight into the Spurs striker.

He completely takes him out and there's huge appeals for a penalty.

Gene Mudi: Wolves being victims of their own success. The toll of playing in Europe is showing today. Reminds me of Burnley last year.

As a Spurs fab, I'm desperately disappointed with the start we've made to this season. No idea what's happening but we seriously need a reboot ASAP!
