This is much better play from Tottenham. They have lifted the crowds. Christian Eriksen has 100% made the side better. Newcastle need to maintain their shape and keep their cool. The odd bit of play from Spurs has been good but the opportunity to equalise has not come yet.

The goalscorer has to hit it on the half-volley and he doesn't connect fully. It's a comfortable save in the end.

It's all a little bit slow, ponderous and predictable from Tottenham. They just look like they have no ideas. They are making it easy for Newcastle at the minute.

Well spotted Mo. As it stands, only Liverpool have won at home this Saturday and Sunday. Aston Villa won at home on Friday of course.

Spurs are knocking on the door. Son Heung-min's shot is deflected in the box and it almost falls for Erik Lamela.

It would have surely been a goal were it not for Fabian Schar's sliding tackle, just in the nick of time.

    Excellent defending.

  20. 'Erikson brings a creative element'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 25 August 2019

    Jermaine Jenas

The players that have been on the pitch are more than good enough to fill the void that Christian Eriksen leaves. But when Eriksen is on the ball and on the pitch, you find that creative element that is lacking when he is on the bench.
