    Bristol Rovers 0-0 Brighton

BBC Sport at the Memorial Stadium

Bristol Rovers midfielder Ed Upson - who it must be said has a magnificent name for someone jumping for a header - has just taken a right whack in the face. There's a slight pause as the physios check him over, and thankfully he's OK.

Meanwhile, with the ball on the deck, Brighton have had most of the early possession here.

10 minutes gone in our games tonight. Just the one goal thus far.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 27 August 2019

    Newport 0-0 West Ham

Bad news for West Ham early on in this game.

Michail Antonio attempts a burst forward but hits the deck without any player around him, it looks like a hamstring injury.

On comes Felipe Anderson with just seven minutes played.

Fulham have a free-kick on the left edge of the box, Bobby Reid curls it brilliantly over the wall and onto the crossbar.

    Newport 0-0 West Ham

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Rodney Parade

Newport County have shown they are more than capable of producing cup shocks in recent seasons, having beaten Leicester City and Leeds United and drawn with Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

West Ham will be hoping they are not added to that list in the Carabao Cup tonight and, although Manuel Pellegrini has made 10 changes to his team, he’s still able to call upon the likes of midfielder Jack Wilshere and striker Albian Ajeti - an £8m summer signing from Basel - for his starting line-up.

This competition was so low on Newport manager Mike Flynn’s list of priorities that he had suggested the club’s fans did not travel to their first-round fixture at League One side Gillingham.

Those who heeded that advice missed out on a topsy-turvy tie which produced four penalties in normal time before the Exiles triumphed in a shootout.

There’s no such apathy this evening, though. Flynn has named a virtually full-strength side and Rodney Parade is packed to the rafters - and loud.

  7. CLOSE!published at 19:50 British Summer Time 27 August 2019

    Newport 0-0 West Ham

A good start by the hosts at Newport.

A free-kick is drilled in from the left but West Ham debutant goalkeeper Roberto does well to gather on the bounce.

    Leeds v Stoke (19:45 BST)

    Pablo HernandezImage source, Getty Images

Leeds face Stoke for the second time in four days and this meeting could spell the end of Potters boss Nathan Jones.

The West Yorkshire side won Saturday's game 3-0 leaving Stoke bottom of the Championship with zero league wins in their opening five days.

The results left Jones questioning the mentality of his players. Beginning of the end if ever I saw it.

Crystal Palace v Colchester United (19:45 BST)

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has well and truly shuffled the pack with 10 changes from the side that won at Manchester United on Saturday.

Martin Kelly is the only player from Old Trafford to feature from the off, with James McCarthy handed his full Palace debut, and Victor Camarasa also playing for the first time.

Connor Wickham and Christian Benteke start up top, with Max Meyer and Andros Townsend returning to the starting XI having started the first two Premier League games of the season.

Crewe v Aston Villa (19:45 BST)

10 changes for Aston Villa – Jota is the only player to keep his place from the side that beat Everton last Friday.

Summer signings Ezri Konsa, Matt Targett, Kortney Hause and Marvelous Nakamba make first starts. Skipper Jack Grealish is on the bench.

Four changes for Crewe after Saturday's loss at Newport including a debut for 18-year-old Rio Adebisi.

Bristol Rovers v Brighton (19:45 BST)

    Memorial Stadium

Brighton face League One opposition in Bristol Rovers tonight at the Memorial Stadium, where it's overcast but there's still a decent view of Gloucestershire's county cricket ground nearby.

Walking up the Gloucester Road to the stadium tonight, I expected to hear fans discussing their preferred line-ups or predictions for this game. Instead, all I heard were supporters concerned about the ongoing situation at two other B's - Bolton and Bury. "I'm so glad that's not us," one said.

The same conversations were being repeated by the food vans. It's clear that fans across the country are worried about the goings on up in the north west.
