Eddie Howe told BBC Sport: "Psychologically, it was hugely important to win that first home game which is why today was a huge moment in our season. Our last game was disappointing in the last 20 minutes and I wanted to freshen the game up. Dominic Solanke deserved to play and we shuffled it around and thankfully the result was a positive one.

"Callum [Wilson] took his goals really well and he pressed really well. He was an all round threat and his second goal was a brilliant finish. Lewis [Cook] is a big player for us and he gives us that enthusiasm and technical ability. It speaks volumes of him to perform like that after so long out. I thought Jack [Stacey] did really well against Alex Iwobi and he has a big future ahead of him. We are indebted to our goalkeeper as well who made a couple of really good saves and we took our chances when the game was in the balance."

It is huge psychologically because our home form is so important. we knew it was a huge moment in our season and hopefully we can use it as a launchpad for better things."

On Callum Wilson: "Strikers need to score goals to feel confident. Callum has never had a problem in that respect and the second goal in particular was an outstanding finish."

On Ryan Fraser: "I expected Ryan to make a real impact and it was a stage of the game where we felt we needed a lift. the goal was typical and his set play delivery is excellent. he was the catalyst for our improvement in the second half."

Any Xhaka fans out there want to get in touch?

I can tell you that since the start of the 2016-17, no player has conceded more penalties in the Premier League than Xhaka (five, level with José Fonte).

Stephen: Xhaka must have it written into his contract that he must start every game or the club have to pay £500,000 to his agent per game. I honestly can't otherwise figure out why he gets picked.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin said: "We were well in the game and in control but unfortunately we conceded from a set piece and we are frustrated not to come away with three points. Having scored so late in the first half we went in with momentum but we couldn't get the next goal and they capitalised on that.

"I'm happy to get on the score sheet but it is bitter sweet because we didn't manage to get the three points. There is still more to come from me and I know I can improve every game. We know we have quality in the dressing room, it's just about taking the same attitude from our home games into the away games."
