    Burnley 2-0 Norwich

I think Norwich are probably going to have to wear a few results in the Premier League by playing this way, but over time they will hope to accumulate more points than they would otherwise.

They are playing some lovely football, have had 57% of the ball but have been undone by basic lapses at the back today. Good feet from Emiliano Buendia and a shot which is well blocked.

It's as though it's the final five minutes of the game right now. There's no intensity from either team at the moment.

I guess the only hope for Watford is that in this situation the Man City players become complacent.

But, realistically, If Man City want more goals, there's plenty there for them.

    Man City 5-0 Watford

Poor Dimitri Foulquier is being spared by Quique Sanchez Flores. He's only had nine touches!

Off he goes. On comes Roberto Pereyra for Watford.

Is he the man to kickstart a five-goal comeback?!

Burnley win a free-kick and put in an elaborate routine which ends with Jeff Hendrick curling straight at Tim Krul. Easy on the eye.

Scott: Maybe Watford just really, really hate Liverpool?

Sof: City are on another level and are punishing Watford ruthlessly! Even as a Liverpool supporter I have to admit City are something else. What on earth is going through these Watford players minds right now?

Liam, Ealing: Could there be a rule in football where teams can throw in the towel like they do in boxing? I suppose you can’t really as goal difference is so vital. Maybe there could be a ‘defeat threshold’?

    Man City 5-0 Watford

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

At least the Watford fans have retained their sense of humour, despite what they are witnessing.

When Kevin de Bruyne - who has been in scintillating form with his passing today - sliced a shot horribly high and wide from the edge of the area just now, the Hornets supporters responded with a chorus of 'what the bleeding hell was that?' (or something very similar).

They are currently cheering every time their team touch the ball, which isn't very often.

    Man City 5-0 Watford

It's like watching BBC's Andy Cryer in five-a-side.

Man City are tearing Watford's defence apart and with very little effort. A three-on-two scenario ends with David Silva's shot being blocked on the edge of the box.

    CHASE HIM DOWN.

Patient probing from Everton again - that man Lucas Digne flashes in another good cross which Dean Henderson has to push away at his near post.

Richarlison then launchse a scissor kick over the bar.

Another Man City attack. Another BIG chance.

Riyad Mahrez has it in space on the right but chooses to cut it back rather than going for goal. His cross is blocked.

    Man City 5-0 Watford

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

I have just done a bit of checking through the history books.

The biggest Premier League win remains Manchester United's 9-0 triumph over Ipswich in March 1995.

But there have been quite a few other big wins too, 14 of them by seven goals or more.

In none of those 14 games had a team been five goals ahead at half-time.

Gerard Deulofeu's free-kick is held by Ederson and the Man City keeper quickly rolls it out to the right.

It's drilled in towards the near post for Sergio Aguero, who pokes it first time onto the outside of the right post!

Sergio Aguero will be really disappointed with that. Once again, Kevin de Bruyne is pulling the strings - what a good player.

I don't think Aguero needed to try and dink that - he should have just rolled it past Ben Foster.

    Should have been six.

  15. CLOSE!published at 15:26 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Man City 5-0 Watford

Sergio Aguero should make it six. He doesn't.

It's another ball through from Kevin de Bruyne and he's one-on-one with Ben Foster. The Argentine tries to chip it but spins it wide of the left post.

Everton have had all the better chances so far in this game, it's all been them but not that much has happened at Goodison Park. Apart from the two yellow cards [for Bernard and Baldock], neither side have showed much emotion yet.
