  1. 'Bit of shock & embarrassment'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    FT: Man City 8-0 Watford

    Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster to Sky Sports: "Its probably a bit of shock, embarrassment. I think we let ourselves down today and the fans fa bit. The fans were giving it everything, all they've got, unfortunately we on the pitch didn't give it all we have got.

"As a keeper coming to City and Liverpool, if you let five in in 20 minutes you fear the worst, you think cricket scores. They are without doubt the best team I have ever played against. We were poor, didn't lay a glove on them but at times it was breathtaking watching them.

"You come away to City and I'm not joking, you come here and think if you keep it to two or three - they are so good. Them and Liverpool are a different level.

"We didn't do our job today. We have to take some positives but that's football. You have to clean yourselves up, move onto the next one.

"We have a few experienced lads but you have to keep smiling. I have just let eight in. I'm not happy but it is what it is. There is no point in dwelling, get ready for the next game and get ready."

Dan's (16:48) not got too many supporters

Daniel: Quite right. After all, it's well known that the likes of Liverpool, Man United and Barcelona don't spend any money and the players work for free.

Jack: You can spend as much money as like, but to get a team playing like Man City takes something more than money. Just look at United and Madrid

Loki: magnificent performance by Manchester city. Apparently having a one billion pound squad will devalue their achievements this year if city are fortunate enough to win something. Tell that to the club's spending seven hundred million and have failed to win anything....

  3. 'Unlucky not to get a hat-trick'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Burnley 2-0 Norwich

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "We were excellent throughout, but particularly in the first 15 minuets. We were dominant early on and scoring two goals gave us control of the game.

"Everyone wants to play out from the back it seems so you get used to playing against it. You have to believe in pressing well, they stuck to their guns and kept playing that way but we were good on the press.

"Chris Wood has stuck at it, goalscorers need to score goals and he's nicked two goals today. He was unlucky not to get a hat-trick in the end."

  4. 'We'll stick to our plans'published at 17:03 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Burnley 2-0 Norwich

    Norwich City

Norwich defender Ben Godfrey: "We always knew this would be tougher than Manchester City, Burnley are tough to play against. The two strikers are really hard to play against but we will learn from it.

"It is never great to concede but we go again. We play out from the back, that philosophy has got us here so why change it? If we get punished, we get punished. We'll stick to it."

Tim, Marlow: I wonder which game will be up first on MOTD tonight? To be honest, I reckon the VAR controversy will be a more interesting watch than this cricket score at the Etihad!

DJ: Not sure what to say. I don’t know how but they have pulled it off. Great job Sheffield United and Mousset getting his first goal finally is top draw. The stats tell a different story but what a game.

    Burnley 2-0 Norwich

    Burnley

Burnley striker Chris Wood: "It's satisying, these are the home games we need to be winning. Norwich played extremely well last week, took on a great side and beat them. There are no mugs in this league, they are all good sides.

Jamie: Re Dan from London (16:48): That sounds a bit like sour grapes to me! City can still achieve a lot and is not simply expected to win every competition they're in!

Arthur Crube: Can someone explain what the blazes Dan from London is on about?

Ken, Newcastle: Oooh Dan, put away those claws man.

You'd have put your mortgage on Kevin de Bruyne finishing that. What a great run. He gives the keeper the eyes but then flops it wide of the post.

De Bruyne has still had a marvellous day today.

Dan, London: The world's first £1bn squad, coached by the world's greatest flat-track bully, thrashing a team in relative turmoil is barely noteworthy. City can ONLY make par or fail - they've given themselves too great an advantage to achieve something great. Any trophy they fail to win makes their season a failure.

  18. What a miss!published at 16:47 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Man City 8-0 Watford

    NOOOOO!

This was the record-equalling goal. Kevin de Bruyne - yes him! - has actually missed a bit of a sitter.

He does the hard work, beating the defender in the box but he smashes his shot wide of the left post from about six yards out.

    How?
