    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

Janine Beckie has made a bit of a mess of a chance here.

Manchester United fail to clear a free-kick into the box and Beckie is lurking in space on the left. She goes for a first-time effort on her right, when having a go on her left was the better choice. She won't want to see that back on any replay.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Goalless at the break at Ashton Gate where Brighton have been the better side.

But they wasted the best chance of the first half when Sophie Baggaley brilliantly saved Victoria Williams' penalty for the Seagulls.

Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

United have been really compact which is really good because when City have been playing the ball around the back United are holding their line and then putting the pressure on Keira Walsh - they know the ball is going through her and they've done their homework there - they are not giving her any time on the ball.

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

Caroline Weir finally calls Mary Earps into action!

The Scotland international swaps passes with Tessa Wullaert and she shoots from the edge of the area. Earps, however, comfortably deals with it.

  5. MISSED PENALTYpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

    Wonderful save from Sophie Baggaley!

Brighton's Victoria Williams goes for power but Baggaley leaps to her right to palm the ball away.

  6. PENALTY TO BRIGHTONpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Golden chance for Brighton as Aileen Whelan cuts into the box and goes down under the challenge of Gemma Evans.

The referee points to the spot!

  7. 'City have been disappointing'published at 15:43 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

    Lindsay Johnson
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is disappointing so far from Manchester City. Manchester United have had a couple of good chances and City haven't had a chance on goal yet.

The quality has not been there from City, when they have been on the ball their touch has been heavy and they've not been able to keep it.

  8. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

Another foray forward, another chance for Manchester United.

This time it is Leah Galton who tries to direct a header on target. She isn't successful, but City's defence very much needs to be on high alert right now.

There are just seven minutes of the first-half remaining.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:43 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Bristol City keeper Sophie Baggaley is called into action again, this time tipping Aileen Whelan's shot over the bar.

The resulting corner is floated to the far post but Matilde Lundorf stabs wide from close range.

  10. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Around 10 minutes of the first half remaining at Ashton Gate but it's still goalless.

The visitors continue to look the most threatening and work a training ground free-kick routine in search of a breakthrough.

Two players run over the ball before Lea Le Garrec shoots from fully 30 yards. However, the France international's effort lacks any real power and Sophie Baggaley completes a routine save.

  11. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

As much as Manchester City are trying to bring a sense of calm to this game, United are relentlessly pushing for the opening goal.

Lotta Oqvist and Jane Ross link up well on the left, before Jill Scott comes up with the ball in defence for City. The England international sets up for up fiend, but she losses the ball too easily.

    United on the attack again...

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

You wouldn't be able to guess that Man Utd are the newly-promoted team. They have had two BIG chances now - both coming from crosses by Leah Galton on the left. For Man City, centre-back Gemma Bonner has been the pick of the half, which suggests they have come under pressure a lot. Demi Stokes is struggling.

  13. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

How are Manchester United not leading!

A low cross from Leah Galton finds Jessica Sigsworth in front of an open goal, but the forward is caught by surprise as the ball flashed under the legs of her team-mate Jackie Groenen.

Man City survive as Ellie Roebuck is able to save the tame effort on the half-hour mark.

  14. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

Brighton continue to give as good as they get at Ashton Gate as Kayleigh Green's looping header forces a routine save from Sophie Baggaley.

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

    Lindsay Johnson
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester United have arguably had the best chance on goal, they should be one up if it wasn't for a fantastic save by Ellie Roebuck.

Ole Gunnar SolskjaerImage source, Rex Features

I've been told Manchester United men's boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is here watching and I'll be very surprised if the attendance isn't confirmed as over 25,000. That will be a WSL record of course. The existing record is the 5,265 that saw Arsenal clinch last season's title at the Amex.

  17. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

Manchester United really causing City problems at the back now.

Jess Sigsworth makes room for herself down the right in the 26th minute and tries to find Jane Ross with a low cross. Enough is done to limit the danger to a corner, which is easily dealt with.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:28 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

A HUGE chance for Manchester United.

Jane Ross looks certain to score from close range on the half volley, but Ellie Roebuck comes good with a wonderful reaction save!

  19. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

United not doing a great job trying to protect injured goalkeeper Mary Earps.

A weak pass back forces the England keeper to make more of an effort than she'd like to clear. She walks it off, but no doubt she is feeling it.

  20. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 7 September 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

First real chance of the game for Bristol City as Charlie Wellings races through the heart of the Brighton defence.

She squares for Carla Humphrey but her shot from 20 yards is comfortable for Brighton keeper Megan Walsh.

At the other end Kayleigh Green tries her luck from the edge of the box but her left-footed effort flies wide.
