    England U21 4-0 Austria U21

A brilliant fourth for England's Under-21s as Callum Hudson-Odoi runs pretty much the length of the pitch before smacking a fine strike into the top corner. Aidy Boothroyd's side lead Austria's U21s 4-0 at the break.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 15 October 2019

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Oh that's disappointing as the Republic of Ireland build a promising attack but Alan Browne's shot is disappointing and the referee blows for half time.

  3. CLOSE!published at 45 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Haris Seferović smashes over the bar from inside the box as Switzerland come forward again. A second before the break would be a real blow for the visitors.

Just a minute added on at the end of the half.

  4. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

"GERRITT FORWARDD," Mick McCarthy screams at Glenn Whelan.

Whelan doesn't initially oblige but the ball is eventually pumped long but the attacking opportunity is wasted as Switzerland are awarded a free kick.

  5. CLOSE!published at 40 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Set pieces are looking the Republic of Ireland's best chance of getting a goal here and they have a corner five minutes before half time. It is a good delivery by Glenn Whelan, into the middle of the box, and Shane Duffy rises but his header is straight at Yann Sommer.

  6. Postpublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 15 October 2019

    England U21 3-0 Austria U21

Easy as you like for England's Under 21s tonight as Eddie Nketiah makes it 3-0 against Austria, glancing a header in at the far post.

  7. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Granit Xhaka's corner hits Glenn Whelan in the body. Home fans think there was a handball and scream for a penalty, nothing given but the hosts keep up the attack as Fabian Schar bends a decent effort just wide of the post.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 34 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Yellow cards coming thick and fast now as Alan Browne is penalised for a challenge on Stephan Lichtsteiner that was a bit too strong for the referee's liking.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 31 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

The first couple of yellow cards are dished out as Switzerland's Granit Xhaka and the Republic of Ireland's Seamus Coleman go in the referee's book following a tangle.

The visitors enjoy a rare attack but Enda Stevens shoots too early, firing a speculative effort from distance well over.

  10. Postpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 15 October 2019

    England U21 2-0 Austria U21

England Under-21s have doubled their lead against Austria courtesy of Eddie Nketiah. Aidy Boothroyd's side are cruising but would probably like one more at least after letting a two-goal lead slip last Friday.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:15 British Summer Time 15 October 2019

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Stephan Lichtsteiner comes forward for the hosts, the Republic of Ireland defence backs off and Lichtsteiner goes for goal but swipes his effort well wide.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 28 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Switzerland are forced into an early change as Admir Mehmedi has picked up an injury. He makes way for ex-West Ham midfielder Edimilson Fernandes.

  13. Postpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 15 October 2019

In the other group game, Georgia are flying against Gibraltar. They lead 2-0. The result in that game is inconsequential for the other teams, though, with neither side able to qualify for Euro 2020.

  14. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

James Collins wins a free-kick to ease the pressure on the Republic of Ireland's defence.

Long way to go in this one and Switzerland are quite partial to conceding goals late on.

  15. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Switzerland are passing the ball around quickly. They look confident thanks to that early goal. The Republic of Ireland, in contrast, haven't really put together a decent attacking move yet.

  16. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Switzerland up the pressure as they win a couple of corners in quick succession. Both, though, come to nothing.

  17. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Switzerland 1-0 Republic of Ireland

That's scuppered the Republic of Ireland's initial gameplan as they seemed happy enough to let Switzerland have the ball.

Mick McCarthy's side try to find an immediate response but Aaron Connolly's ball across the box can't find a team-mate.

The Republic of Ireland do have two bites of the cherry, so to speak, but potentially facing Denmark needing to win would not be ideal.

    Haris Seferovic

Uh oh. Bad start for the Republic of Ireland as they fall behind to an early goal.

It is a lovely strike in fairness, Haris Seferovic sweeping a low shot from just outside the box into the far corner.

First effort on goal for the visitors as they win a corner. Glenn Whelan takes it, finding Jeff Hendrick on the far side of the box but he can't direct his header on target.
