    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

Mick McCarthy was talking up the Republic's prowess from set-pieces before the game and Conor Hourihane teases in a decent ball from the left but nobody gambles on it. Frustration for Mick.

  2. Postpublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

The Swiss continue to pile on the pressure, Darren Randolph makes a strong save at his near post but in fact Haris Seferovic was offside anyway.

The Republic can't get a foothold on the game.

    A tremendous own goal!

Kevin Malget sinks to his knees, absolutely gutted. From a corner Anthony Moris makes a decent save but can only tip it up into the air, Malget comes in and demands the clearance - but gets his angles all wrong and heads it into the bottom corner.

    Shambles.

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

Good move from NI, but Gavin Whyte looks to cross the ball in from the right when he should have hit it across goal. Seconds later he does indeed shoot, over, when he should have crossed it.

Two wrong decisions in a row from the Cardiff man.

  5. Postpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

Shot on target alert - and no surprise it comes from the visitors. Darren Randolph is right behind a long-ranger from Denis Zakaria.

  6. 'I can't understand it at all'published at 20:17 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

I just can't understand Oliver Norwood's retirement. He says he's protecting his club football - I just don't know what that means. He's 28 - I was 28 and played in the World Cup finals. I know Michael O'Neill has done everything in his power to make him realise that he's made a mistake.

Maybe his club are putting him under pressure but personally I just can't understand it all. Aaron Hughes made the same decision but had a rethink and went on to have success at international level.

  7. Brown's been a busy boypublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

    Mark Sterling
BBC Sport NI at Windsor Park

We've seen a bit of everything from debutant Ciaron Brown so far.

He found Josh Magennis with a lovely searching ball early on and won a header in the opposition box that almost set up a chance for the Hull City striker.

However, he has also showed a few nerves when dallying on the ball and letting Maurice Deville rob him of possession. He got lucky, though, as nothing came of it.

He certainly doesn't mind a forward pass - something that could reap dividends for Northern Ireland in a game that's yet to come alive.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:15 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

Granit Xhaka lines up a free-kick from about 35 yards - ambitious - but it deflects only narrowly over. Darren Randolph was worried.

  9. 'Tired and pedestrian'published at 20:11 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Northern Ireland look tired and pedestrian. It's had friendly written all over it. Luxembourg seem to have more urgency about them. Northern Ireland are giving the ball away carelessly. They look far too comfortable. What they're doing to us, we should be doing to them.

  10. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

Josh Magennis looks frustrated as he leads a counter-attack down the right, looks up - and has nobody in a green shirt anywhere near him.

  11. Postpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

Heavy pressure from the Swiss now, ramping it up. Darren Randolph has to punch clear under a challenge, before a long clearance nearly puts Dave McGoldrick away at the other end.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:05 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

Maurice Deville should score for Luxembourg - he's free in the six-yard box but heads over the top.

  14. Postpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

Sticky moment for young Ciaron Brown, caught on the ball as last man by Maurice Deville. Northern Ireland are stretched, but Tom Flanagan is well placed to block the eventual shot from Leandro Barreiro.

  15. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Luxembourg

Northern Ireland seeing much more of the ball now, with Gavin Whyte proving a nuisance down the right. Luxembourg keeper Anthony Moris then comes for a cross that he's never going to win, he's in trouble and Josh Magennis can't quite steer the ball home.

  16. Postpublished at 20:00 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

Better! Callum Robinson starts a neat attack which ends with a shot on target, but James McClean doesn't get hold of his shot properly and scuffs it at Yann Sommer.

  17. Postpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

Richard Keogh is the next to clear his lines but he slices that one horribly over his own crossbar. A few nerves from the boys in green - but the corner is poor and straight out of play.

  18. Postpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

The Republic look stretched at the back as a cross from the right finds Breel Embolo just six yards out - but his touch is poor and Shane Duffy is able to stretch and clear. Embolo could have just headed that.

Jeff Hendrick then gives away a free-kick with a poor challenge.

Better from the hosts as Josh Magennis spins into the right-hand channel and beats his man but his cross is well cut out.

  20. Postpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Switzerland

The Swiss stitch together an enterprising move down their left but one-time Football Manager wunderkind Breel Embolo makes a mess of the final ball.
