  3. Lennon wants Celtic to 'control the game'published at 17:57 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells BBC Scotland Sportsound his team won't sit in as they attempt to reach the group stage.

Lennon said: "I don't think we can play that way. We know if we score, AIK will need four. We're playing very well and looking to keep that going.

"I imagine AIK will come out more and try to force the issue at some stage. We'll have to defend well, as we did last week, and look to counter-attack. I'd like us to get control of the game when we can.

"We'll come under pressure at times, but need to be concentrated to see it through. Just make sure we don't give any needless opportunities to the opposition.

"We have a decent lead but it's not insurmountable."

Without being too dismissive of AIK, they are not a side you would give so much respect to that you have to just limit their attacks. Celtic can go out and play their natural style and dominate the game.

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

AIK were so passive in the first 45 last week - they didn't attempt to press or put Celtic under pressure. They have to win the game tonight, so they will leave gaps for Celtic to exploit.

  7. Elyounoussi blow for AIKpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

A bonus for Celtic is news that experienced Norway striker Tarik Elyounoussi is on the home bench tonight. The 31-year-old missed the first leg through suspension and had to come off after half an hour with a calf problem at the weekend. He might get thrown on if AIK are chasing it in the second half but their star striker is clearly not 100%.

  8. Defensive approach 'alien' to Celticpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has a handy 2-0 lead to protect in Stockholm but he is not about to change his attacking strategy.

"We're a front foot team and know we're capable of scoring goals, we've shown that already this season," he said yesterday.

"I don't think we can sit in for 90 minutes. It would be folly to ask players to do something alien to them.

"If we score one that would put us in a tremendous position in the tie. There may be bad moments we have to weather, but we're capable of scoring goals here and getting a positive result."

  9. 'Bitton an able deputy'published at 17:41 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Nir Bitton has played at centre-half often enough for Celtic and is capable of stepping in and doing a job. Celtic should be able to see this game through, they are in a comfortable position and a goal tonight would put them in a very commanding position.

  11. Story of the first leg - Forrest & Edouard on targetpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

Celtic endured a frustrating first half against the Swedes in Glasgow, with Mikey Johnston, Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor denied by goalkeeper Oscar Linner,

However, James Forrest made the breakthrough shortly after the interval, with Linner unable to keep out a powerful strike. Edouard then doubled the lead with a lovely free kick, while good chances were spurned late on to make it a more comfortable evening.

  12. Swedes well into domestic seasonpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

Goals from on-loan Rostov midfielder Anton Saletros, defender Rasmus Lindkvist and wing-back Heradi Rashidi in Sunday's 3-1 win away to Ostersunds mean AIK remain second, four points behind leaders Djurgarden, in the Allsvenskan after 21 games.

Former Birmingham, Sunderland and Hull midfielder Sebastian Larsson will be fresh after missing that one through suspension.

  13. Legia defence cracks at the weekendpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    Rangers v Legia Warsaw (19:45)

Legia warmed up for this one with a 3-2 win at Lodz, which leaves them four points off top spot after five outings and with a game in hand.

Last season's top scorer Carlitos was missing, with coach Aleksandar Vukovic playing down reports of a fall-out with the Spaniard. Will the 29-year-old be included at Ibrox?

Rangers will have had scouts at the game to see Legia concede after a run of six clean sheets.

  14. Glasgow duo pull away in Premiershippublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

Celtic and Rangers are the only sides with 100% records after three rounds in the Scottish Premiership.

The defending champions brushed Hearts aside 3-1 in Glasgow, while Steven Gerrard's men were made to work hard for a 1-0 success at St Mirren.

So, how did tonight's opposition get on? We'll get to that in a moment...

  15. Three changes for Celticpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

Celtic boss Neil Lennon makes three changes from the 3-1 weekend win over Hearts. New loan signing Fraser Forster is ineligible, so Craig Gordon is back in goal.

Midfielder Olivier Ntcham and striker Vakoun Bayo also drop out, with Mikey Johnston and Odsonne Edouard returning to the team.

Lennon's line-up tonight is the same that started last Thursday's 2-0 first-leg win over AIK, bar one player - Nir Bitton is in at centre-back for the injured Jozo Simunovic.

Celtic: Gordon, Ajer, Jullien, Bitton, Bolingoli, Brown, McGregor, Christie, Johnston, Forrest, Edouard.

Substitutes: Hazard, Griffiths, Bayo, Hayes, Morgan, Ntcham, Ralston.

  16. Sectarian chants 'damaging' Rangerspublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    Rangers v Legia Warsaw (19:45)

Rangers battled to a creditable draw in Poland but the team's efforts have been rather overshadowed by a Uefa punishment for sectarian chants from fans.

Responding to behaviour during the home leg against St Joseph's on 18 July, European football's governing body ruled that 3,000 seats be closed for tonight's game. For those of you familiar with the stadium, the areas chosen by the club are the Broomloan Stand front section one and club decks six and seven.

But it doesn't stop there. Uefa are set to rule tomorrow on further sectarian singing during last week's visit to Warsaw.

Rangers have already said they will not ask for any tickets for their next European away game, with a statement adding: "fans responsible for this partial closure need to understand that they are damaging our club".

The statement went on to warn that "a further incidence" in the second leg against Legia "could lead to a ground closure".

  17. Celtic lead looks healthypublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

    AIK v Celtic (18:00)

Celtic will be disappointed to miss out on the Champions League for the second successive year but Neil Lennon's men have responded well to that third qualifying round loss to Cluj,

AIK came to Glasgow with a cagey game plan and were out-played for long stretches. The Swedes will need to open up on home soil and that should leave gaps for the visitors to exploit.

If Celtic score first, then the tie is all but over. If AIK can haul one back early, then we have a game on our hands.

  18. Celtic & Rangers one step away from Europa Leaguepublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 29 August 2019

Welcome to another Europa League qualifying double-header, with Celtic and Rangers well placed to progress to the group phase of the tournament.

Celtic take a 2-0 lead to Stockholm against AIK, while Rangers managed a 0-0 draw away to Legia Warsaw last week.

    So far, so good.

Can the Glasgow rivals get the job done this evening? Stay with us as the action unfolds.
