  9. Early season blues look to be liftedpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Hull City v Wigan Athletic (15:00 BST)

    Grant McCannImage source, Rex Features

Two sides who've yet to find their stride meet at the KCOM Stadium as Hull and Wigan both go in search of just their second wins of the season.

Life on the road has been tough of late for Wigan with just two wins in 28 league games in the past two seasons.

Hull come into this game without a win in four league games and a defeat for either this afternoon could already leave them weighing up the prospect of a relegation battle for the season ahead.

  10. Can Boro hold a lead?published at 14:54 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Middlesbrough v Reading (15:00 BST)

    Jonathan WoodgateImage source, Rex Features

Jonathan Woodgate must be finding his early weeks in Championship management a touch frustrating.

Boro have lost more points from winning positions than any other Championship side this season (six), dropping four in their last two games against Millwall and Bristol City.

Reading meanwhile have won their past two away games in all competitions, which is as many as in their previous 35 on the road.

You have to go back to September 2016 for the last time the Royals won three in a row away from home.

  11. Goals galore at Deepdale?published at 14:52 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Preston v Brentford (15:00 BST)

    Ollie WatkinsImage source, Rex Features

We don't like to build things up *too* much, but the signs are this one could be a classic.

The past five league meetings between Preston and Brentford at Deepdale have seen 25 goals scored, with both sides scoring at least twice in each of the last three.

No-one has been involved in more Championship goals than Preston midfielder Daniel Johnson this term, while Ollie Watkins has four in five for the Bees.

    Expect fireworks.

  12. Millwall hope for happy Rovers returnpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Blackburn Rovers v Millwall (15:00 BST)

    Neil HarrisImage source, Rex Features

Ewood Park is far from a happy hunting ground for Millwall who are hoping for their first win at Blackburn since November 2012.

Rovers are unbeaten in their past seven league matches against the Lions and Millwall's travels to east Lancashire of late have seen them on the wrong end of the scoreline six times out of the past eight matches.

A victory for Neil Harris' men today would see them end a winless run of three matches this term.

  13. Hoops and Hatters full of confidencepublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    QPR v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Lee WallaceImage source, Rex Features

It's been a solid start to the season for both QPR and Luton, under new managers.

The Hoops have 10 points from their opening six league games - Jordan Hugill scoring in his past three Championship matches - while Luton are going for a three consecutive second-tier wins for the first tiem since 1996.

Expect two teams full of confidence. PS, isn't that a lovely picture of new R's defender Lee Wallace...

  14. Stoke and Jones desperate for a winpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Stoke v Bristol City (15:00 BST)

    Nathan JonesImage source, PA Media

It's fair to say the managerial hotseat at Stoke City hasn't been particularly comfortable for Nathan Jones.

The Potters are winless in six this season and Welshman Jones hasn't tasted victory himself in 12 attempts, meaning the pressure continues to ramp up.

Today's visitors Bristol City, meanwhile, haven't lost in the Championship since the opening day and have a handy knack of bagging a late goal - scoring five in the last 15 minutes already this term.

  16. Record breakers?published at 14:42 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Swansea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

Steve Cooper has only been a club head coach since June, but he already has a manager of the month award on the mantelpiece.

The Swansea boss won five and drew one of his first six league games at the Liberty Stadium.

If he gets another victory against Nottingham Forest today, Swansea will be celebrating their best start to a league season.

Forest will have other ideas, of course. The visitors' away form suggests Swansea will have a battle on their hands, though, as Forest have already picked up points at Leeds, Charlton and Fulham this season.

  17. Addicks bid to keep on rollingpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Charlton Athletic v Birmingham City (15:00 BST)

    Charlton celebrateImage source, Rex Features

Charlton have without doubt been the surprise package of the early weeks of this Championship season.

After coming up through the League One play-offs last term, Lee Bowyer's side find themselves in second and unbeaten with four wins from six.

They are first newly-promoted Championship side to do that since Brighton in 2011-12. The Seagulls went on to finish 10th.

Birmingham City are the visitors to the Valley this afternoon.

Two wins in their past three games have raised morale a touch, but Floyd Road has provided just the one win in their past eight visits.

  18. On song Swans take on Forestpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Swansea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

Swansea have had some fabulous times over the past decade or so, but this latest run of form under Steve Cooper is certainly up there.

Top of the Championship, unbeaten and chasing a fifth league win in a row for the first time since 2007 - when they were a League One side, before their rise to the Premier League.

Visitors Forest are also quietly going nicely under Sabri Lamouchi - can in-form winger Albert Adomah do the business again for the Reds?

It's as you were then in the table for those two sides with a point apiece.

Fifth and fourth respectively, but how many other sides will leapfrog them once the rest of the other eight games today reach full-time?
