  1. 'Ozil was scapegoated'published at 13:50 British Summer Time 6 October 2019

Former England women's winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I’ve got Mesut Ozil's signed jersey in my house. I was a massive fan of his, his creativity and assist ratio.

He hasn’t played well for a period of time. But he was scapegoated when he was in the team.

Like Paul Pogba who won the World Cup with N'Golo Kante, Ozil needs someone next to him to do the dirty work, but Arsenal haven’t had that for a long time. But his behaviour and attitude has been questionable for 18 months.

Left-back Marcos Alonso becomes the fifth Spanish player to make 100 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, after Cesar Azpilicueta (243), Cesc Fabregas (138), Pedro (129) and Fernando Torres (110).

Southampton striker Danny Ings has only scored six Premier League goals in the last year - but five have been against big teams.

Manchester City, Arsenal (x2), Huddersfield, Liverpool and Tottenham. I'll leave you to guess which one of those teams aren't counted.

I was so impressed by Tammy Abraham when I commentated on his first Premier League goals at Norwich that I promptly signed him for my Fantasy League team. His form since has convinced Gareth Southgate that he merits a place in the senior England squad.

Fikayo Tomori is in it as well, so too Mason Mount. Three Chelsea academy products flourishing under the tutelage of Frank Lampard.

This "transitional" season is going better than some feared, especially on the road, and the picture is likely to improve at St Mary's.

Only Watford have a worse home record than Southampton; defensively they are vulnerable.

I expect points for Chelsea AND a few for my Fantasy League team too.

Clearly all of the people complaining about the lack of Ozil haven't been watching his lethargic and selfish performances for the past few seasons. The sooner he's off the wage bill the better.

The 'narrative' does appear to have changed from "I can't believe Ozil is playing" to "I can't believe Ozil isn't playing".

Man City v Wolves (14:00 BST)

Wolves have only taken the lead once in the Premier League this season, against Watford in their win last time out.

They have lost 15 of their last 16 top-flight matches away to reigning champions. Their only victory came at Liverpool in 1984.

They have picked up just one win in their last 10 Premier League away games (D4, L5), beating Watford 2-1 in April.

Man City v Wolves (14:00 BST)

Manchester City's 27 goals in their opening seven league games is the most by any top-flight team since Everton in 1894.

Eight of those goals have come in the final 20 minutes of matches - twice as many as any other side (Wolves and Arsenal have four).

However, City have dropped five points in their opening seven fixtures, as many as after 16 games last season.

They are undefeated in their last 13 outings following a Champions League fixture, winning 12 times.

Man City v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

It's been an excellent week for Wolves. Last Saturday's win against Watford was essential, and Thursday's last-gasp success in Istanbul a real statement.

They're getting used to the Thursday-Sunday schedule and back to somewhere near where they were last season again.

A shame for them then that this fixture comes now, with the prospect of it being a real momentum-killer going into the international break.

As most expected, City have shrugged off that shock defeat at Norwich last month as a blip, winning all five games since - and scoring 19 goals.

They've not had to travel this week, and shouldn't be troubled in terms of result here.

Would Wolves winning be an even bigger surprise than Norwich? I think so.

    Arsenal v Bournemouth (14:00 BST)

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could become the first Arsenal player to score eight goals in the opening eight Premier League games of a season since Dennis Bergkamp in 1997.

And he likes Sundays - 26 of his 39 Premier League goals have come on a Sunday, the highest ratio in the competition's history.

Arsenal have won all five of their home matches against Bournemouth in all competitions, with an aggregate score of 16-2.

Bournemouth have taken just four points from the eight Premier League meetings, with their only victory coming at home in January 2018.

The Gunners have scored multiple goals in eight of the nine overall competitive meetings.

Arsenal have a good home record in the league but...

They have triumphed in only one of their last five Premier League fixtures (D3, L1).

They could concede multiple goals in three consecutive home league games for the first time since December 2012.

They have kept one clean sheet in their last 12 Premier League matches.

Bishop Yinkus: I just hope Emery won't be the one that write his downfall script because those Wenger's days are long gone and any Manager is removable now without notice, so you had better start playing best players

Anukram Adhikary: Emery’s priority, based on this team selection, is the Europa league. His title as “Head Coach” and not the Manager is apt because he doesn’t know about team management.

Rezaa Sait: If Emery is keeping Ozil out of the team purely because of his performances, surely more players should be left at home then? Something isn't right.

  15. 'Bournemouth can make real statement'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 6 October 2019

    Arsenal v Bournemouth (14:00 BST)

    Simon Brotherton
    MOTD commentator

Bournemouth have made a decent start to the season but they've had real problems against Arsenal since winning promotion.

Eddie Howe's team have taken just four points from the eight games played and were thumped 5-1 at the Emirates in February.

In fact they've shipped five goals on each of their last three visits to play teams in London.

An away win would be a real statement, particularly when you consider Arsenal have lost only one of the last 21 at home in the league and have a 100% home record against the Cherries.

We think if Kieran Tierney comes off the bench for Arsenal today, he will be the first Isle of Man-born player to feature in the Premier League.

He moved to Scotland as a baby. With his family.

No Kevin de Bruyne, John Stones or Aymeric Laporte for Manchester City today.

Pep Guardiola is having to juggle his squad a little bit, which means a full Premier League debut for former Juventus defender Joao Cancelo.

He cost £60m. Worth bearing that in mind the next time Pep is complaining about bad luck.

  18. Battle for the Champions League spotspublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 6 October 2019

It's still very early days obviously but only three points separate eight teams in the tussle for European spots.

Arsenal will go back into the Champions League places if they beat Bournemouth. But if the Cherries win, they could go into the top four.

They are level on points and goal difference with Chelsea, who are at struggling Southampton. If the Blues win 6-0 then they'll go into the top four regardless of that other result.

To be honest I've only left Manchester United in this graphic because they happened to be directly after Bournemouth. Sixth is the highest they can go today.
