You could see the faces on the St Johnstone board grow longer as that Ross County goal went in. They're trying to get back into the game, but with one win in seven, it's not looking good for them.

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Aberdeen are certainly throwing their weight around and it's Hibs defender Ryan Porteous' turn to rise clutching a bruising body after a clash with the lump that is Curtis Main. A lot of beef out there...

  4. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Hearts 0-0 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock midfielder Alan Power is on the ground and demanding a penalty at Tynecastle but the accused Andy Irving isn't at all impressed and neither is the referee. From first viewing it seems as though there was very little in it.

Hearts haven't offered a great deal in the final third. Christophe Berra had the ball there in the left-back area, Ryotaro Meshino wanted in to feet, but Berra kicked it in behind and the crowd weren't too impressed.

  6. Hibs impressingpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs win a free-kick 30 yards out and an ambitious long-ranger from Tom James flashes wide. A decent effort, but goalkeeper Joe Lewis had it well covered.

It comes after Dons left-back Greg Leigh somehow escapes a booking after a cynical challenge on Melker Hallberg.

    Kenny Crawford
    BBC Sport Scotland at Firhill

Ian McCall is making his second home debut as Jags boss - 2007 was when he started his first stint at the Maryhill club.

The majority of the Thistle fans seem thrilled by his appointment, but Queen of the South are doing their best to spoil the party so far, and nearly went ahead in the first minute through Dan Pybus.

BBC Radio Scotland pundit Willie Miller has given Hib's silver-grey away kit the thumbs up. He starts to suggest "if I was a young lad" before the former Aberdeen and Scotland defender finishes with "I wouldn't be buying a Hibs top anyway".

GOAL Ross County 1-0 St Johnstonepublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Joe Chalmers

It's a bit of a calamity at the back for St Johnstone. Initially the cross comes in, Saints almost concede an own goal but scramble clear off the line, but the ball gets played back to Joe Chalmers who scores from close range.

  18. Three scans, three specialists and an x-ray to solve Souttar mysterypublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Hearts v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Craig Levein's Hearts side are riddled with injuries at the moment and the Tynecastle boss was insistent that no stone has been left unturned in trying to figure out why so many players are unavailable at the moment.

Speaking to BBC Scotland ahead of today's clash with Kilmarnock, Levein explained why injuries - and John Souttar's in particular - have no easy fix.

He said: "We looked at a lot of different things but the stark facts are that the vast majority of our injuries are contact or impact injuries and those are very difficult to guard against. That's the frustrating thing.

"John Souttar, for example, has had an operation and the very experienced surgeon has never seen anything like this injury before. It has caused us great consternation trying to get to the bottom of what the actual problem was.

"There obviously was a problem because he got to a certain stage in his rehab and couldn't get beyond that. We had three scans, an x-ray and three specialists looking at it. It wasn't until the surgeon actually decided to go in to the ankle that he found the problem. And he's never seen it before. So that sums up the problems at the moment. The good thing is that we know what it is and John will be back after the winter break."

  19. What about Shankland?published at 14:55 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

As many of you will be hearing, there's a fair old stooshie on Sportsound over the selection of Lawrence Shankland in the Scotland squad this week.

Should the Dundee United man start against Russia? Give us a thumbs up for yes, a thumbs down for no.

  20. Pressure easingpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Hearts have eased the pressure that was piling on manager Craig Levein by going three games without defeat.

But they still have not yet won in the Premiership this season and have only won one of their six home games this season over 90 minutes - beating League Two side Stenhousemuir then needing penalties to oust Aberdeen on their way to the League Cup semi-finals.

Having erased some of the question marks over new manager Angelo Alessio with a four-game unbeaten run, Kilmarnock have now gone three without a win, failing to score in the most recent two 0-0 draws at home.

But Killie are unbeaten in their last four visits to Tynecastle, winning 1-0 there twice last season.
