  1. Ross and McKenna start for Donspublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

Ethan Ross, who was a late substitute last weekend, is handed his first start of the season, with the 18-year-old midfielder being one of four changes Derek McInnes has made to the side thumped 5-0 by Rangers.

Scotland centre-half Scott McKenna and fellow defender Andrew Considine make a timely return from injury and illness respectively, with Curtis Main up front.

Dropping to the bench are Mikey Devlin, Zak Vyner, Niall McGinn and Connor McLennan.

Scotland Under-21 centre-half Ryan Porteous is back from suspension for Hibs and is a straight swap for the injured Adam Jackson.

Head coach Paul Heckingbottom makes one other change from last week's promising draw with Celtic. Daryl Horgan replaces on-loan Rangers winger Glenn Middleton, who drops to the bench.

  3. An afternoon of intrigue in the Granite Citypublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

Aberdeen and Hibs are desperate to take a win in to the international break, and not just for the three points it would earn.

A victory would also help ease some of the pressure that has been building on both managers, Derek McInnes and Paul Heckingbottom.

The Dons are fourth in the Premiership, but a League Cup exit at Hearts, followed by a 5-0 thrashing against bitter rivals Rangers last time out, has darkened the mood around the Granite City.

With Hibs second-bottom, their problems are clear to see, but their last two results, a League Cup win at Kilmarnock, and a home draw with Celtic, suggest a corner may have been turned.

An intriguing afternoon awaits in the north east.

  4. Berra returns for Hearts, Brophy for Kilmarnockpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Whatever system Levein is playing, he's made four changes to the side that drew at St Mirren. Club captain Christophe Berra replaced the injured Craig Halkett in defence. Uche Ikpeazu is also sidelined, while Steven Maclean and Callumn Morrison drop to the bench. In come Sean Clare and Andy Irving.

Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio has opted for three changes from the team that drew 0-0 with Ross County. Defender Dario Del Fabro replaces Alex Bruce, while Chris Burke and Eamonn Brophy return to the starting XI ahead of Rory McKenzie and the injured Osman Sow.

  7. Hearts seek home comfortspublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

    Jonathan Sutherland
    BBC Sport Scotland at Tynecastle

The story of Hearts' 2019-20 season thus far hasn’t really fallen into the category of easy reading. In recent weeks, the main protagonist has enjoyed an upturn in fortunes, but as the international break looms, a positive end to this opening chapter is now required at Tynecastle.

It's been more than six months since Hearts recorded a league win at Tynecastle. That was a 2-1 triumph over Aberdeen, but the lack of recent home league success is far too long for a club of this size. There is more positivity since the Edinburgh derby win, but Hearts need to tame the home hoodoo to truly quell the murmurs of discontent from the stands.

Kilmarnock need a win themselves after going three matches without victory. But the last time they were at Tynecastle, they took all three points, a 1-0 win back in May - Stuart Findlay with the goal.
