That's your lot from us tonight.

It was a very good night, eventually, for Bristol City as their late, late winner against Charlton sent them fourth in the table.

Nottingham Forest blew their chance to go second as they fell to a 2-1 home defeat by 10-man Hull City, while Graeme Shinnie scored in time added on to give Derby a much-needed win over Wigan.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a hat-trick to give Fulham a 3-2 win over Luton, while struggling Huddersfield and Middlesbrough played out a drab goalless draw.

Peterborough went top of League One with a win over Accrington, while previous leaders Ipswich fell to a second successive defeat as Rotherham took three points back from Portman Road.

We'll be back with more EFL live text coverage on Saturday when Sheffield Wednesday take on Leeds United in a tasty looking Yorkshire derby at 12:30 BST.

Enjoy the rest of your evening and thanks for joining us tonight.

Bristol City's 98th-minute winner has changed the complexion of the top six in the Championship - the Robins are up to fourth, three points behind leaders West Bromwich Albion.

Fulham had looked like moving into the play-off spots with their victory, but they'll have to make do with seventh place for now.

Nottingham Forest and Swansea are also on 22 points along with the Whites, and five points separate leaders West Brom from 10th-placed Charlton.

At the bottom, Huddersfield remain a point from safety after their goalless draw with fourth-bottom Middlesbrough.

    Bristol City 2-1 Charlton

No time left for Charlton to respond to that late, late (and brilliant) Josh Brownhill goal.

It's been an eventful encounter but the Addicks will be sick that they come out of it with nothing.

City showed character to keep going with 10 men, and the win takes them into the play-off places.

  4. Peterborough set for the summitpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 23 October 2019

    League One full-times

Peterborough are 3-0 up in the closing seconds of their match against Accrington and are heading top of League One.

Ipswich, who started the night as leaders, lost 2-0 at home to Rotherham.

Coventry came from a goal behind to beat Fleetwood 2-1 in Wednesday's other League One match.

    Nottingham Forest 1-2 Hull

Jarrod Bowen scoresImage source, PA Media

Huge, huge win for 10-man Hull City.

They took the lead before the break through Josh Magennis' close range goal before Jarrod Bowen doubled their money.

Matty Cash got the hosts back in it before Magennis saw red for a poor challenge.

Forest would have gone second with a win but the Tigers defended manfully to keep them at bay.

  6. goal

GOAL: Bristol City 2-1 Charltonpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 23 October 2019

    Josh Brownhill (90+8 mins)

    INCREDIBLE!

Bristol City have won it right at the death.

The referee plays a good advantage and Kasey Palmer swings a ball into the box from deep.

Josh Brownhill is unmarked, controls with his right, takes a touch on his chest and then crashes home at the near post with his left from about eight yards out.

That one is right out of the top drawer.

    Bristol City 1-1 Charlton

A clash of heads leads to a break in play at Ashton Gate.

    There isn't much time left.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 23 October 2019

    Huddersfield 0-0 Middlesbrough

Two struggling teams, who, on this evidence, are probably in for long seasons.

Boro had the better of the chances with Daniel Ayala and Ashley Fletcher both guilty of missing great chances from close range.

Town remain in the bottom three but are now unbeaten in five games under Danny Cowley, Jonathan Woodgate's men remain without a win since 14 September and are one point above the dropzone.

Aleksandar Mitrovic's hat-trick has given Fulham the win and moved the Whites back into the top six.

The Serbia international now has 11 goals in the Championship this season.

Kazenga LuaLua's late goal for the Hatters could have sparked a dramatic late finale, but didn't.

    Derby 1-0 Wigan

Graeme Shinnie's stoppage-time stunner wins it for Derby. They were second-best for long spells but have snatched all three points.

  11. goal

GOAL: Fulham 3-2 Lutonpublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 23 October 2019

    Kazenga LuaLua (90+3 mins)

Fulham thought they were home and hosed - but there is a late twist.

Substitute Kazenga LuaLua is there to slide in at the back post and get on the end of a cross and turn the ball home from close range.

There is about a minute left.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Middlesbrough

We're deep in six minutes of stoppage time in West Yorkshire.

It looks like Huddersfield's unbeaten run will stretch to five games but they'll remain in the relegation zone nonetheless.

    Graeme Shinnie (90+2 mins)

    Graeme ShinnieImage source, Rex Features

What a goal to surely win it for Derby!

A left-wing cross is laid off into the path of Graeme Shinnie and he smacks it into the top corner from the edge of the box.

That's harsh on Wigan, who have deserved at least a point.

Can the visitors snatch a winner against 10 men?

Into the final stages at the City Ground too.

Hull forward Jarrod Bowen is in the book for kicking the ball away.

It's his goal that remains the difference at the City Ground.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Middlesbrough

It's scrappy stuff at the John Smith's Stadium.

We're into the final couple of minutes.

Can either side find a winner that would leave the loser in the relegation zone?

  18. RED CARD: Diedhioupublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 23 October 2019

    Bristol City 1-1 Charlton

Famara Diedhiou has lost his head and Bristol City will finish with 10 men.

The striker loses the ball to Jason Pearce just inside the Charlton half after trying to control a throw-in.

He continues hacking away at the Addicks defender, who has gone to ground, and then gives Pearce another kick for his troubles.

The visiting players don't like that and there is a bit of a melee.

But referee James Linington calms things down and shows the Robins' goalscorer a straight red card, which is deserved.

  19. Postpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 23 October 2019

    Bristol City 1-1 Charlton

Josh Cullen bends a free-kick wide of the far post from a yard outside the area on the left flank.

About six minutes plus stoppages remain at Ashton Gate, as visiting keeper Dillon Phillips goes into the book for time-wasting.

    Derby 0-0 Wigan

Just as Derby have arguably their best spell of the match, Wigan create another excellent chance to go in front.

Jamal Lowe cuts inside his defender, but Kelle Roos is to the rescue for the Rams to block the ball clear.

    Seven minutes left to play.
