    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

Swansea fans break into a rendition of 'Hymns and Arias' as Bersant Celina's volley is gathered by Etheridge.

The home supporters are, not surprisingly, making more noise for the moment - but a Cardiff goal would change all that of course.

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

Andre Ayew produces a lovely flick as Swansea break forward, but Bersant Celina's heavy touch means the attack comes to nothing.

Ayew has been one of Swansea's top performers today.

  4. Grimes deniedpublished at 54

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

More good play on the ball from Swansea, who continue to show a bit more composure than their opponents.

Matt Grimes eventually tries his luck from a difficult angle and Etheridge saves easily enough.

This is a massive game for both managers, especially Neil Warnock. Cardiff have been picking up points, but to lose the derby match in the league position they're in and with not really convincing performances this season would add to the pressure.

  6. Swansea threatenpublished at 51

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

Swansea offer the first serious threat in the second half as a rare spell of possession ends with Bidwell crossing for Ayew, but the ball hits the striker's arm before his effort is blocked.

Byers then lashes over, but play is stopped by then anyway.

  7. Warnock's wise words?published at 49

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

Presumably Neil Warnock had a few things to say to his players at half-time after a first period in which Swansea were the better side.

He does not appear to have changed anything tactically as yet though.

    Can Warnock's team-talk make a difference?

This is what Cardiff City are all about. They will work and work, things don't look pretty but sometimes they get a result from nothing and that's what Swansea City have got to be aware of.

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

Some early encouragement at the start of the second half for Cardiff as Mendez-Laing wins a corner.

Marlon Pack's delivery reaches big Aden Flint, but he can only head the ball behind.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 46

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

We are back under way at the Liberty, with no changes on either side at the break.

Can Swansea press home their advantage, or will Cardiff find a way back into the game?

The Cardiff City reserve goalkeeper Alex Smithies is currently being put through his paces on the pitch in front of us. There were incidents in that first half which saw Neil Etheridge make some mistakes, but whether that means Smithies is ready to enter the fray we'll have to wait and see. If it is, it's a big call from Neil Warnock.

What it feels like to score your first senior goal. Ben Wilmot, instant Swansea hero...

Cardiff City are at sixes and sevens at the back and set pieces are supposed to be their strength... they're a bit of a shambles and Swansea City are thoroughly deserving of an interval lead.

Swansea have probably been the better team in and out of possession. Cardiff City had one or two good moments early on, in particular Mendez-Laing, but they probably got worse as the half went on.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

The hosts are deservedly ahead at the break.

The last derby was five years ago in the Premier League when Garry Monk's first game in charge was a 3-0 victory for Swansea. Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer and Wilfried Bony with the goals. Routledge and Dyer making reappearances today.

  17. Postpublished at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

For the first time almost, there is a little lull in the pace of this game.

Can the Bluebirds find a response before the break?

  18. Crunching challengepublished at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

Neil Warnock appears to urge Robert Glatzel to get stuck in - and seconds later the big striker piles into Mike van der Hoorn.

The German might have been booked for that but gets away with it.

  19. 'Derby nerves' from Etheridgepublished at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio Wales

    Quote Message

That kind of nervousness reverberates through the team. As a centre-back I wouldn't be playing the ball back too often to Neil Etheridge because using his feet and kicking are probably the weakest part of his game.

  20. Still scrappypublished at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea 1-0 Cardiff

The Swans' goal must have lifted their confidence, but Cooper's team have been short of their best of late and it is a similar story here.

This game is still very scrappy, with Ayew's cross causing chaos in the Cardiff box before Etheridge claims.
